What Got You Into Runescape (and Rsbandb)?

I've been wondering how everybody got involved with the game, and with Rsbandb by extension. For me, I ended up getting into the game back in 2006 after I was looking for new games to play. As for the community, I was actually looking for competitions to try and spice things up a bit and I ended up stumbling across Skill of the Month.

My kids were playing it and kept on saying I should give it a try. Got hooked as it was a relaxation. Both lads still have accounts but now free play and rarely ever bother. I still find it a break from work thoughts but now have periods I don't bother with it and play Guild Wars instead.

RsBandB I found when looking for a more friendly forum to now and again chat on. Didn't like the look of the bigger sites. This site, as it still is, offers nice extras and is really well set up and run so I'm still here., still like it.

A group of my friends and me played the original Diablo I & II in junior high, we never could play together but instead had to play our own story and talk about the game in between periods at school. How we stumbled upon RuneScape I'm not sure, but nonetheless we found a game that we all could play together, you have to understand this was 2003ish? So its not like today when a young person can just log on and play with his friends, back then it was crazy that we could meet up in the same world and play together. There was 6 of us playing and a few of the guys still play but the rest have moved on to WOW and Guild Wars.

I used Rsbandb's calculators extensively for two years and then decided to join the forum and become a members of the community, I've met a ton of great people on here and don't regret it. Plus the forum layout is awesome, much better than the other RS forums.

I remember watching my brother playing RS for sure and that was what got me involved. I think I was aware of it and interested prior, but I can't remember how I found out about it exactly/ But I was about 6 then so I can't blame myself for not remembering. Pretty much the same thing for RSBandB, brought into it through my brother.

Early during the school year 2005, a bunch of friends in my Russian class (if I remember right) were playing Runescape. Sounded interesting so I decided to hop on and play.

As for finding RSBandB, my brother was checking out the site and he liked it. This was also back in 2005 (about the time I joined the forums). Stuck around ever since.

Found the game on the Miniclip (lol) as for RSBANDB I was just looking for an RS podcast and RSBANDBUpdate seemed to be pretty much the only RS podcast that was released consistently.

My brother was introduced into the game by a friend when he was in 5th grade, but he was stuck on tutorial island. either couldn't figure it out or got bored of it. I watched a little bit and gave it a shot. I played from about 2004 till 2009 and then the girlfriend at the time got me hooked on wow. Now I am back in runescape playing on a newer character because so much has changed.

As for RSBandB, I don't know if it was for the calculators or for the podcast. Either way, it was an amazing community back in the day, and although it has seemed to have slowed down and most of the people I remember either retired, or have since changed their name, or just don't use the friends chat anymore (shame, because that's one of the best things that help me play the game)

I was a lurker on RSBoards and I saw many signatures from RSBANDB. Clicked through and saw this site for the first time but quickly lost interest. A few years later, I discovered podcasts, got hooked on the Update! and re-discovered this site HEY I REMEMBER THIS PLACE

First episode I ever listened has had a valuable life lesson in its title: Episode 128. Knowing 2^7 off by heart has really saved my *** on a few occasions, thanks Shane.

As for RS, my 3rd grade teacher suggested it after seeing it #1 on Miniclip on one of our lab days. I wasn't old enough to even remember my username and password so every time we went to the lab I made an account I used for 50 minutes or so. That was back in 2004.

Within those 50 minutes, I never knew that there was something beyond Tutorial Island (I thought TI was all there was to the game, a scripted roleplay that I never got around to completing), so when I finally made a permanent account I played through to Lumbridge and I was in for a real shock. Turns out there was yellow text often appearing over players' heads and there was a MASSIVE world to be explored full of so many cool things, if only I had rushed TI all those years back to find this sooner!

That was my first account Asovse, I played on it for hours as a F2P.

When I discovered in 2006 that some classmates were still into RS, we just made a huge class clan and played for ages. That was on my new, now primary account Asovse1. Stuck around ever since, got mems 2 years later via surrogate, started paying for myself in 2011.

I found RSBandB from the podcasts on iTunes, and for some reason I decided to join RSBandB Christmas Day at 8:10 in the morning.
I have no idea why I joined at that time XD

I have played RuneScape since 2005, I started at one of my fiends birthday parties and we were going to make a lot of money together. Turns out I'm the only one left playing, but made millions more then they ever did.

I found RSBandB when I was looking for a podcast to listen to that was regular and could replace a podcast i listened to for a game that recently got cancelled.

I started playing in the early days of rs classic cause all the other guys in my school class were playing it, and it was a lot of fun. Then I quit along with everyone else when rs2 became the main game. Then returned in 2009 because I felt I had some unfinished business, never getting a single 99. Then I found rsbandb and created a goal thread on here, so my first 99 skill came pretty much along with my rsbandb membership. Both things stuck around for longer than I then expected.

My cousins got me into the game, had no idea what it was before I saw them playing it. And my cousins also lead me into joining RSBandB.

for me, friends played during lunch. then i joined in, had fun.

Went to runehq, shane and mike created great calculators.

came here as a rhq diplomat. then runehq went in the other direction and i stayed here.
