With the last poll there was the possibility for the each skill to have a cosmetic skillcape for those who got enough experience for level 120.

What are your thoughts on the idea of releasing these capes for the general public?

Great idea in my opinion. I understand that some people wanted skills to go to level 120 instead, but that would mean getting the comp cape would be nearly impossible then, since nobody has ever gotten 120 all skills except Suomi. Good luck spending that many hours trying to get it back. I suppose it would keep people playing for a VERY long time though. This is a nice alternative however, it still gives you some incentive, altbeit not as much, to train past level 99, especially if the cape is really aesthetically pleasing.

I suppose I should go get another 17m Cooking xp so I can get the cape upon release. :D

It's a blessing and a curse in my opinion.

It's a blessing because the economy spiked when regular skill capes were released. It created a goal for people to get 99 other than just reaping the benefits of having a skill that level. Clearly, there is nothing functional about having 104m xp but it will give Maxed and Comped players something else to work towards. Also, who can argue with particles?

It's a curse because I know sooner or later I'm going to want to go for one and it's probably going to either be Smithing, Runecrafting, or Construction.

Personally, I really hate the idea. I would much rather see the game extended and new content developed to make the 120 an actual true goal, not a virtual one. New content will mean faster xp rates the higher you go, so while at the moment the highest agilty is around 70k an hour, new content could be developed at certain levels where xp rates of 500k, or higher could be introduced. Say, if you were at level 117, you would need another 27 million xp to get to 120, a new training method at that level of even up to 1 mill xp an hour would be possible and really expand on the game. Unfortunately, it looks as if the "I want everything NOW!!" crowd are going to win and it will just be a worthless cosmetic cape. More players need to look toward the future of the game and do whats best down the track, because it does not often coincide with what is best right now. Short term gains rarely pay out in the long term. Anyway, looks like the point is moot anyway, as the polls dictate the future once more

I have to agree with this. Kind of like a "go big or go home" mentality. If new training methods were introduced and XP rates increased dramatically, I probably wouldn't be against everything going to 120. But knowing Jagex, they would probably just raise the level cap then get around to introducing new methods in 6-9 to months. Leaving us to start inching toward 120 via gnome adv. and burning maple logs.

However, the flip side with these cosmetic capes is (playing devil's advocate) that they will actually ring "respect" back to skill capes. Let's be honest, most skill capes are so popular they've become more prevalent than rune full helms used to be in F2P back in the day. Perhaps this could be a way to restore honor back to your skilling achievements. BUT, not everyone wants to waste the time to get 8 more 99s within 1 skill. It's a catch 22. Maybe it could be viewed as an act towards the inflation of skill capes. The only capes of accomplishment that turns heads anymore are Max and Comp. I think a lot more people would respect a 120 Smithing or Construction again. And regardless of how easy the skill is, it's still a hell of a time investment and test of patience. If they're going to make these though, they really need to go all out. Better than the 120 DG cape, then bring the 120 DG cape up to par.

Not really sure how I'm going to cast my vote yet.. Considering it's probably going to win by a land slide, I suppose it doesn't really matter. No one really discusses the outcomes like we do here. They see a flashing banner in game and quickly click it and make a 3 second decision so they can continue to play the game without all the buttons an banners pointing to the poll tab.

Just saw the Facebook post with early concepts of the 120 cosmetic capes. So far, completely underwhelming. But we are getting them, so too bad. Hopefully they truly represent 120.

Not a fan. If they are just putting in capes with nothing else (new training methods, exp, etc.), I don't see the point. I suppose people like recognition for their 120 levels. Still, this is kind of low on the totem poll of things that need to be addressed in RS imo.

Just saw the prototypes.

I don't really care one way or another, as long as all skills won't have a 120 cap but just a cosmetic xp thing is fine with me.
I personally will never get one. 104mil xp would take up way to much time that I'm not willing to spend.
Runescape has already taken enough life points out of me.

If I did...
I would go for cooking and or fishing, a skill I enjoyed getting to 99 in the first place. (I have gotten 99 fishing twice on different accounts actually)
But this would be a last resort type of thing, something to do after maxing.

(I'm never going to max....)

120 proper skillcape in my opinion is the only option. They should work on additional content for levels 99 - 120. They don't have to do all skills at the same time. Introduce the 120 level gradually skill by skill, but create content to work towards, not just xp.

Whilst I'm inclined to agree, it would be a difficult thing to work into the current game, if only due to the creation of Completionist and Max Capes. Would you need 120 all for comp cape? Currently there are 0 people with this (virtual) achievement, and it has only happened once (Suomi, obviously) although there are 1-2 close currently.

It would definitely allow for more content is some of the skills that have room to grow. Slayer, always happy for new monsters to come, we could introduce Dragon Ores and Bars for Mining/Smithing (even though we don't really train those anymore_. Others it just seems like doing it for the sake of doing it (RC for instance).

Hmmm.

If they made all skills 120 I think they would have to make that either a Comp (t) requirement or create another cape called Max Elite or Comp Elite.

Back to the point; I've been training in various places of the game and I hear chatter about people training for "120" and I see a lot of skillcapes around training their respective skill.

I hate the idea of these so much, Im tired of these accomplishment capes. Cape this, ohh, and lets make a cape for that, and while were at it, lets give this a cape cause we can. A tad redundant to me.

They need to at least include the icon at the top of the screen and have the fireworks for each level over 99, so a player can keep an eye on their progress. It's not something I will be going for, but at least let those that are see how they are progressing
