It's pointless to come out with USB 3.0 peripherals if the USB 3.0 compatible ports aren't even out yet. So right now, you're paying for a very expensive thumbdrive that you can't take full advantage of till after the USB 3.0 cards can be purchased for desktops. By then, the drives you'll be able to purchase will be cheaper and larger than now.
But, USB 3.0 as a standard will be great. It supports previous versions, so everything you already have will still work. The speed boost will be nice, and it looks like it's keeping up with other current technology.
