I can't foresee that working. A beggar wants cash immediately, and telling them to log out for a week wouldn't be very immediate.

but they think tht u think that they will log out for a week so they wont be near you for a week and then coming back in a week pretending like they havnt been on so 30gp buys u 1 week

Well, I have to say that I never went begging. Beggars annoy me and I don't tolerate them at all. I think the idea of offering them a job is a good one though. I'm usually a bit more....evil. My usual reply is something to the effect of "Sure, you can have this dagger, when I stab you in the face with it." I think it gets my point across fairly well and keeps me in character.

I think door-closers are a far greater annoyance.

That's a good way to respond.

Another way to respond is to give them a bronze pick / hatchet and tell them to go mine or woodcut. Gives them something to do and will teach them the fundamentals of making money.

I don't really "rate" the beggars, especially if they're low leveled. They might not know of a good way to make money, and decides that the high level players won't have time to bother with them. So instead they ask for some one to help them out with direct cash. I'm not saying that they're not annoying though, so I wouldn't give them anything. :D

I usually find telling them to use the home teleport and killing 50 men there, eventually they will drop alot of money.
Then RUN!

Rofl I usually don't see them, because most of them hang around lumbridge/varrock
If one happened to find me I'd probably just give them a job and say "if you really want money, then do this for me

I'm usually training my gathering skills, so I haven't got any money on me. So I politely say no.

Begging isn't exactly against Runescape Rules, which is why it's harder to curb the problem.

Auto-world switching wouldn't work either.

I never begged, I hate beggars because they ask people who are wealthier then them to give them the cash they earned instead of earning it themselves. Whenever someone asks me to give them 5k, I say they should make it themselves, just like I did.

I may have begged a little at the start, but once I was on my feet, I never had any need. I found often that if I just went on playing the game and talked to people in game a lot, they would just give me help, even if I didn't ask. That being said, I think it depends. If I am in the GE and people are begging I completely ignore them. I kind of think of them like real life beggars in New York City, who make on average $40k a year (no joke). I figure these players get some money sometimes and that is enough. I also tell them that the time they are going around begging from other people could be spent making money through various skills or combat. Ironic . Anyways, that's my opinion on it. Ignore them, but if I come across a noob on Runescape and feel the urge to help them, I would do it, especially if they didn't beg. I feel much more comfortable helping people who have played a little and don't ask for help than helping people who just go around asking for money rather than playing the game. 8)

"Hey I hid 1m under a cabbage in lumbridge go find it" - actually works sometimes. Course I've always got some sort of teleport on me too.. no need to listen to them.

RS is mainly about raising skills/doing quests.. or talking to friends/doing events with them. If someone is desperate enough to beg in a game like RS (especially in members), that's gotta be a reflection on themselves in the real world ("dude can i have a dollar lolz"), both cases being annoying. I'm not the best at runescape, but it took a while to get the things I wanted, not like I'm gonna give away what I earned to some random person. Something I hear in WoW too often: learn to play nub.

Then again, we've all done it at some point more or less. With trade restrictions the max amount of gp tradeable to them would probably take 5 minutes to earn back. Oh well, that's why they invented Christmas :P
