Why do you not like it? I know the majority of people here don't like it, so why? If you do like it also post your reasons. Please don't just say you like it in fear that I may do something to you. I assure you that I wouldn't get away with something like that. :D

As fore me it just the fact that it's majorly different than any other RS skill. You get to move around see different parts of RS, it's never the same in that respect.

So please, post and be honest. I have plans to use responses in this topic for research purposes ;) RSBandB Forums gives you cookies daily.

I've never really had anything against it, actually. I used to dislike it in the past when it came out due to the fact that it took eons to level. Comparatively now with summoning and runecrafting it's not too bad. I have been doing a lot more farming lately, I just need to get in a cycle or habit of doing it more often. It has a lot of variety to it and you can actually make pretty decent money herb farming. Another downside is that it usually costs a pretty good amount of cash. The chance of dead plants is pretty aggravating, and tending to each and every patch can get time consuming i would imagine. Overall i think its a skill everyone should at least try. They don't have to like it, but at least give it a try. There's no way farming is for everyone tho. :P

I go back and forth with farming. At times i love the skill. Others, i dislike it a lot.

Like you said, its a very different skill then all of the other ones. It's gives you a little change, which is nice.

However, the main thing that gets me to stop farming is the process of getting everything ready. Honestly i find it very annoying to gather everything (seeds, teleports, compost, farmer payments, etc.) and trying to find the fastest method to all of the patches.

Tree runs are also very long and repetitive in my opinion. And don't ask how many time's i've been sitting at a wood tree chopping for 10+ minutes. :P

The rewards at high level don't seem that great to me compared to other skills. Admittedly they aren't bad by any means. But they aren't good enough to make me get 99.

And I don't get, Shane, how you like farming because:

It IS the same in that respect. Because you're going back to the same patches. And you could say the first part of your sentence about almost any skill. I can kill monsters in almost every part of rs, I can fish in a great number of locations, I can cut trees in a great number of locations. That argument just doesn't cut it.

I've never been against it, but there is two reasons I never do it.
It takes waaaaaaay too long to level.
I've always had bad luck when it comes to just putting in super compost and water. They normally die.

I actually like farming. However, it's the kind of skill for which if you want to be good at, you'll need to set a good schedule and follow it. Seeing it that way, it might be why people don't like it. As for me, I think farming becomes really easy and fun when it has become a habit. But when you break this habit it becomes hard to restart lol. (i.e. Me: I farmed all summer long but haven't farmed in a month and it's hard to actually WANT to restart)

Hope this post made sense to you.

I personally go in favor for farming, its a great skill. You get to go many places, see many things, unlike most skills where you can head to a bank and do most the work. But for farming its more challenging, because of waiting times, different locations, ect. Although I never have the time to farm much, its fun to me. There is a few things I dislike about farming, of course, as with every skill.

I agree with that, I would enjoy more rewards for higher farming level. Although a spirit tree is a very nice reward for the high leveled farmers... :) (sadly I can't plant one, but I got the seed.) Farming also helps with other things - like you can plant herbs, herbs train herblore, or you could plant food and use it(although the food don't heal much, its still food). You can plant hops which is used in making beer, and doesn't brewing beer train cooking...? You can also raise trees to cut, which is training woodcutting. Farming is a skill that is good for training other skills, which is another thing I enjoy about farming. What people dislike about farming is most likely they can't train it quickly, and easily. It takes time and patience for farming, and I enjoy that.

Overall, In my opinion, farming is a great skill, only a few things that I dislike.

I like farming, I don't like the seed collecting. Herb seeds aren't the problem for me it's the other alloment and tree seeds that I don't like to buy/collect.
So I only really farm when I have seeds to burn, that's why my farming level doesn't go up much.

Exactly my thoughts. You really have to think through what route you plan to take and how to minimize your inventory. This is fine once you have it down but if you get distracted by other goals its not as easy to pick back up as other skills.

I can't even farm, but from what I've seen, I have no problem for it. However, if you want to master it, you need patience. I'm guessing not a lot of people have the patience for Farming. :|

Personally I'm a person with a busy life: soccer, tennis, school, girlfriends, friends, family, and all kinds of other events.
With this being said, I play runescape on my schedule and not the other way around. I've tried farming before and it worked out alright if I have a whole day to waste and plan around the game. Meaning, research plant growth times, plant the plant, then log out or do something in game till plant is fully grown. Either way I am required to play for a certain length of time or required to return to game to harvest the plant before it dies. My life schedule is most of the time undetermined and with that being so, there have been times where my plants have died because something came up and I wasn't able to log in before death, causing me to loose seeds/xp.

This is why I don't farm often and don't enjoy it as others.

It's the kind of skill which requires a spreadsheet to optimise. That, plus the lack of major rewards make it tedious to actually train.

Although I do grow herbs to supplement my income.

When I played, I enjoyed farming. As people have said before me, you need to follow a very organized path and timescale, to maximize the xp. Hence, why Shane is good at farming. Chiefy too.

I don't like it.

It just has never been appealing to me. Not because "It's boring. It's too hard. (Insert generic farming hate quote)."

I just never got into it. I occasionally do some herb farming if I need cash, but that's about it.

There he lay now, sick, miserable, filled with ill-will towards himself; full of hatred for the impulses toward life, full of suspicion of all that was still strong and happy.
