I usually give myself big goals like getting a 99 or several 99's. Some times it's little goals like getting the skill level needed for a quest or achievement diary. When I haven't set any goals or I need a break, then the daily tasks, works for me. Runescape seems to have plenty to keep me motivated.

Aside from the ever-present goal of maxing, probably the individual skill capes.

However, there are some cases where I aim for a certain level that unlocks a better training method.

i.e. Higher Agility for better courses, higher Herblore for better potions, etc.

XP. Trying to crack goals 1 at a time, repeat. Racing against others also.

I am motivated by the desire to gain 99 in every skill. Once I complete that goal, I don't know what I will do.

Maybe as of recently, the promise of a master cape appeals to me and I'd say would motivate me toward getting one.

Out of all my 99s, I'd say 120 Farming would be the easiest one for me to get.

But GOD, getting 99 EIGHT MORE TIMES?

Trying to find something to motivate me now.
None of my real life friends currently play anymore, always had someone, since starting in 2002.
That's the reason I have played off and on for 12 years now is always had school friends who played also.

Last time I was speed rushing to get a 99 (aka meaning the only thing I did on rs was work on that 1 skill) I got half way there, got bored and quit for nearly a year.
I'm currently doing the same with a different skill and have the urge to stop playing again. Can't get motivated.
Last 3 weeks or so, averaging like an hour of Scape. (including days where I don't even bother to log in for longer then just to open my treasure chest keys and log back out)

How cool would it be if they could be stacked for days you don't log in?

Gaining a master cape other than Dungeoneering is one motivation at the moment. I'd like sometime to hit the 2bil cash limit sometime but have never set it as a goal as it seems to far of a reach at the moment. Lots os times it's coming back to RS after a lay off and completing the new quests nd tasks and getting to grip with new content. But the one thing I always find fun is working out the best way to deal with certain tasks, whther that's for speed, xp or profit.

My motivation is simply that I need to achieve the goals that I set. Several goals I have made years ago and still to this day I have not yet achieved them, so I feel like I need to keep playing until they are completed. Also the fact that there is always something more to do in this game helps out quite a bit.

And he tries to keep ahead of me, too. Don't forget that part.

Right now its just that I dont have anything else I feel like doing. RuneScape has always been a relaxing game for me to play and now that I'm done with school and have a full time job leaving me with a hours after work is done to just do whatever, I'm getting back into RuneScape to pass the time, get some 99's i've always wanted years and years ago now that I have time not filled with homework.
