I feel bad, I kept backstabbing Jay while he was being a good teammate healing people. He got me back a few times though :P

I was going on a backstabbing rampage. I'm usually not very successful as a spy but I got a "your eternal reward" knife and that seems to help quite a bit in not getting caught after your first kill.

That was my 1st game of TF2. Everyone kept yelling at me to pop when I was healing and I had no clue what anyone was going on about :(

I main spy and Your Eternal Reward is the knife I use, it helps considerably, I couple it with the Dead Ringer (and the Fez set), and it's pretty much unstoppable after you get the first kill. The first is always tricky though, if you're playing against a good team, since you can't disguise or cloak on will.

I'd love to come and play TF2 with you guys, but the timings ren't really suitable for someone in the UK, like myself. If there was ever an event at UK time, I'd definitely come along.

For me, the only thing that went wrong was when my game crashed in the middle of one of the maps, but it only seems to be doing it with that game though so I don't know what the problem is.

Thanks to everyone who showed up last night, it was fantastic!

Play through the current tutorials, and you'll start to understand a bit about those particular classes (think it's only Soldier, Demo, Engineer, and Spy as of now). For medic, you can 'pop' the übercharge that you build while healing, allowing for invulnerability for a short period of time. Another of the Medic's mediguns can provide critical hits for a short period of time, or the other which provides a 3x healing rate for both the medic and the healee.

Start off on a public server, play around on a few different classes, and find a few that you like. It's best to be well rounded, though having a few classes you're very good with is usually helpful. The medic is a fantastic class to start with since it's decently easy to pick up, but takes a bit to become really good at. I'd also look at Pyro, Soldier, and Heavy, as these are similar for their starting skill level.

Try running the Verify Game Cache from the properties of TF2. It's the quick-fix for many Steam game related issues...

I already did that for all the games that I have, and there's nothing wrong with it.

Is it crashing on map-switch, or just randomly while you're playing? I've had it crash on map-switch before, but it's not overly consistent.

It just does it randomly for no reason, and it's only Team Fortress 2 that is doing it, none of the other games that I play do it.

You could always try reinstalling TF2. That would probably fix it.

Tried that, and it's still doing it. When I open up the Task Manager, it shows that Team Fortress 2 is not responding, and I have to shut it off from there. Plus, before I uninstalled it, it ran the "Verify Game Cache" thing as I started up Steam.

Sounds like what happened when I was rendering a video in TF2, it got to 2 seconds before completion, froze, and I didn't even know that it had stopped completely till I alt+tabbed out. But mine doesn't (at least not yet) randomly freeze on me; at least not yet.

Did you ever get that fixed, or are you still having those problems? If you fixed them, how did you do it?

No idea what caused it, but if you find where the movies are saved, the full render is sitting there just fine. So I have no idea why it froze, but since I don't do movies too much, I suppose it's worth dealing with. I would love to blame it on Quicktime, since I needed to install that to do any rendering, but honestly, I can't say for certain what the issue was.
