As you may or may not know, there's a hurricane called Earl in the Atlantic Ocean. It's category 4 with winds of 135 miles per hour. The projected path takes it near the east coast of the US. If it stays on the west side of the path it will be a big problem anywhere from North Carolina to Maine. Also all of east Canada is in the cone. When it approaches the US it will have 105 mile per hour winds which is a strong category 2. As far as I recall a hurricane this strong coming to the east coast has not happened in many years (Bob in 1991). If you live near the area you will have 1 day to prepare (2 for Canada).

Info on EARL

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_at2.shtml?5-daynl#contents

UPDATE - Cape Hatteras, NC to Virginia Beach under a HURRICANE WARNING, Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Island, MA under a HURRICANE WATCH, and the NJ coast under a TROPICAL STORM WARNING. Thank god this thing isn't gonna bring tropical storm winds or higher where I live though. This is looking real ugly.

It looks like it'll brush off of the coast and cause problems to those coastal cities, but then we can never really know what path they're going to take. Be prepared, for anyone who lives in that area. It looks a lot like what Hurricane Bill did last year though, so who knows.

That's one reason I love the west coast, no hurricane season here. :P

Amen to that. Where I live, the worst we get is the occasional wind storm or heavy snowfall, but manageable stuff. Hurricanes are quite powerful things. But, even if they do damage, the governments always willing to pick up the bill anyways.

There's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I like to think that I walk that line every day

Best wishes to those in Earl's path.

This is very concerning for me, I live on an island off the coast of Massachusetts.

Possibly no runescape for a while. :[

eh.. I always think it's funny when people get scared and over react. I live in Maine. and find it funny.
It won't hit maine. at most my guess. a little wind. Only other hurricane that hit maine. was Bob. which was a year or 2 before I was born. But I love the wind!

so BRING IT ON!!!!

I have you beat. No hurricans, no earth quakes. No killer mooses.

I wouldn't mind being in a hurrican though..i mean obviously i don't want to die..but I'd be..curious about it.

Yes, but when it rains, you cant cut the grass, or you shouldn't.
