Browsed around on the forums, and was preety suprised to find that there wasn't a section for people that had runescape items that they wanted to sell, wanted to buy, or give away. This would be a very useful thing, seeing as it would save people the time of asking in the clan chat (although, it is a popoular method)...etc. "selling barrows" or "buying 10k swordies. All people would have to do is post what they wanted to sell, buy, or give away, and another forum member could reply and meet them in-game to do the exchange.

Cheers, dafin0

The Marketplace was the section for this; almost nobody used it, and it was inconvenient for most people who wanted to sell things quickly. It was removed and I don't really see it coming back.

Yea, this forum not being the RSOF so it doesn't have near the number of people it does plus the GE... not really a need for it, y'know?

We once had a full market place set of forums with a forum dedicated to each set of skills. That was later changed to being a few smaller forums and now it's gone.

With the addition of the GE, forum advertising is almost obsolete.

I think it would be useful, even if it wasn't used that much. Sure, the GE takes a lot out of it, but if you are looking for rares or other things that are hard to get on the GE, a marketplace would be ideal for that. Plus, community marketplaces are much more friendly than the GE. 8)

Thanks for the idea, but this will not be coming back.

We originally had a full set of marketplace forums as you can find on the internet archive. After the GE was released, these forums were gradually reduced to fewer categories until we only had 1 forum left called "Goods & Services". This forum was barely used at all, and when it was, the items were usually sold/bought by the person on the GE before contact could be made. Or we'd get posts like "go use the GE".

It was a pointless forum after the GE was released, there would only be 1 topic created on average per week.

Here is the last screenshot of what the Goods and Services forum looked like before it was killed off about this time last year:

If there is something you can not sell on the GE, chances are it is either junk and no one will buy it from you anyways, or you are dealing with rare items that are valued at much higher than the GE value. In that case, you would be able to find a successful trade much easier on the official runescape forums.
