If you're on the east coast, happy Earth Hour!!! Some places have already had it, some have not yet. If you don't celebrate it, that's fine with me but you should. One hour of lights off is not as bad as you might think. So once again, happy Earth Hour to all if it already came or is coming!

I was talking on Skype to Bryan about this.
I should have, but I am confined to my bedroom as I think I have the flu. My light was off, that count? =D

Well that sucked.

My sister was essentially ***** how we were not supposed to answer the phone, even though my mom was calling from work, something she rarely does.
Wtf, she also wanted to extend it to 11 o'clock.

No I did not. There are better ways to bring awareness to "cimate change." Did you know that even if your lights are off the coal powered generators (here in Canada at least) are still generating power.

I celebrated by turning the Christmas lights on :D

A number of newspapers were saying that it does save a lot of stuff so I kind of did just because it is not hard. Although I did turn on my T.V. as I am not going to read by candle light in bed and my iPod was not charged. It is an old T.V. though, it probably uses more energy than the lights in my room. I think it is just fun for everyone in the city to turn off the lights because then it is like a blackout. I think it is immature of the people who are like "I DISAGREE WITH THIS. I AM GOING TO TURN ON ALL MY LIGHTS AND APPLIANCES LOLOL!LOL!!!"
But I really think it is sad how everyone is like "YES I AM SO GREEN I PARTICIPATED IN GREEN HOUR TO SHOW HOW GREEN ME AND MY COUNTRY ARE." but are not green at all. There are still people with their Christmas lights out, how green is that?
(one of the opinion articles in the newspaper was this girl bragging how green she was and how she is participating in earth hour to show it but then goes on about how she never remembers to turn off any of here lights in rooms she is not using, takes 40 minute showers, and all this other stuff. So really any of the stuff she does to be green is canceled out by her habits.. maybe she can work on those rather than turning her lights off for 1 hour to feel like she is contributing so much)
A lot of people are like "doesn't do **** so I did not do it" too, but they do nothing else to help. They should just say they don't give a **** rather than trying to justify not doing it :S

Never even heard of it. Not sure I'd last an hour without electricity while at home. I get bored to quickly.

Never heard of it as well. Kinda not needed in my opinion.
The only thing you can get from it is smaller bill at the end of the month for not using any electricity.
The central has no idea if you're using energy or not. They won't stop the generators even if you cut the wire that brings energy to your house.

No lights were on in the house all evening, but I wasn't about to turn off the TV and miss the hockey game. :D

The somewhat sad part is that as I'm living in a dorm, they never turn the lights off. But, I do live in a part of the country that produces the most energy of any place (renewable). Got love hydro electric. :D

The interesting thing about this is that (from my understanding) it can actually end up wasting energy. They shut down the generator(s) due to the lack of use, and the amount of power to start up the generator(s) again can actually be more than what was saved by people having their lights off for an hour. At least that is how my friend explained it to me.

But what did such a Teuton afterwards look like when he had been "improved" and led into a monastery? Like a caricature of a human being, like an abortion: he had become a "sinner," he was in a cage, one had imprisoned him behind nothing but sheer terrifying concepts... There he lay now, sick, miserable, filled with ill-will towards himself; full of hatred for the impulses toward life, full of suspicion of all that was still strong and happy. In short, a "Christian"... - Twighlight of the Idols

I didn't know they were doing this. Atleast they didn't do it the way nickelodeon does and put a blank screen on for that "World Wide Day of Play" thing.

personally i think it's retarded to turn off the lights for one hour and then feel like you have contributed to "saving the world".

how **** pretentious can you get?
