The iPad.

It's finally been revealed. I don't know why they didn't go with iSlate. iPad just sounds too similar to iPod. Anyway, what do you all think of it? It's cheaper than thought, at $599 and $699 and has a really interesting setup. The thing I don't really..understand about it is how comfortable it would be to handle. I know you can prop it up on a table, but it still looks easy to knock over. And if you're just sitting, I cannot imagine how comfortable it would be after a period of time. I don't know. It looks like a big iPod Touch and I don't really feel that impressed by it.

that is exactly what i felt, its like a giant ipod touch what exactly does it do? anyone would care to explain?

It is just a bigger iPod, I don't se the point of them making it. They should have changed it more if they were just going to make it a bigger iPod. However I might get it. Might be nice to have.

Honestly, I don't think Apple is going to get the figures they're expecting for sales. I'm sure it'll sell for some people, but honestly I'd rather put the money into something else that would be more useful.

It's probably great for someone who is an art major, or someone who has to draw quite a bit in their notes, but even then I don't think that using your fingers would be the best.

They've got some deals with book publishers, so they're definitely going to work on it as an e-book reader, but it doesn't look like something that would be easy, let alone comfortable, to hold for extended periods of time.

I think it's a decent extension of an iPod Touch, but I really can't see people buying these in the quantities Apple expects (10 MILLION in the first year). The cheapest is $499 for something with wireless, and to add in 3G it's an extra $130 + subscription fees. For what it does, I'd gladly get a very nice netbook, and maybe even a Wacom pad if I needed that specific capability. For 3G, I'd hate paying a monthly fee to only use one device.. Get a USB Stick version, and you'd be able to use it on virtually anything.

Sorry, Apple. The Newton strikes again.

It's painful as hell to watch people say how marvelous this thing is. The video promoting this dam thing? I wanted to break down in a corner.

This is sad, I feel like it humiliates us as humans. Come on now it's a big iPod. Like are we that stupid that we'll buy this stuff? O wait we are, because it's the novelty of the whole thing. We see something shiny and "really new" we want it and we want it now. Dispute how ridiculous the thing may be. It's shiny!! It's new!!

But I guess I have to applaud Apple, not for coming up with the idea, but having enough money, and the balls to make the things the have. Because people will buy them when they're "new" and shiny and so.

I'm not sure if i'm going to give into the Ipad's "hype". Yes,the features are appealing. but, im perfectly happy with the phone that i have.

My thoughts exactly. I think it would begin to be rather annoying to use when you can just as easily go to a conventional computer often enough, and it's not exactly something you want to travel around with a lot.

Who comes up with ideas like this? I mean, it's kind of a great idea, but I just don't think it's good enough to market. You might as well buy a laptop and get much better hardware and capabilities. I'm not much for Apple anymore except the iPod and the old iMac. Those are still great imo, but many of the newer items they have are just not that great. Sell stock any stock you guys have in Apple before it starts going down.

(That's just an exaggeration and I'm only kidding)
