Do you need to be a member to get a skillcape because I'm F2P @ the moment, and I don't think its worth it to go for a 99 if i couldn't get a cape anyway.

I wouldn't say it's not worth it. What was their to look at before skill capes? Nothing. Skill capes are just a bonus, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try for a 99 as an f2p player. I think it is a bit more respectable to get a 99 while f2p than member. The skill cape would be nice, but getting the 99 is still good enough in my book. You just have to tell people you are a 99 and have them look at the hiscores (or quick chat it) to believe you. That's all. :P

I agree with Duke Juker, a 99 is a 99, skill cape or not. I got my two first 99's as f2p and it was still worth it. Now that I'm member, I never use my skill capes anyway.

Members can wear their skill cape in F2P and do the emote, though. However, as all members items, it is displayed as "Members Item" so if you unequip it in F2P, you can't put it back on until you go into a members server.

Which is pretty stupid.
This christmas event, former members that were wearing a skillcape couldn't do the event because you couldn't have anything equipped, other than the ghost robes, while doing a certain part.
Some people refused to unequip the skillcape because they couldn't wear it again.

Same thing happened in easter 2009.
I was f2p and had a crystal bow in my inventory. Players needed to have their inventory empty to do the event.
And I... ugh... Chose to drop the bow lololol

Yes u do.

Having a skillcape separates the pros from the n00bs.(sad to say, i dont have a 99 so im n00b) :o. But i think that the skillcape should be available to both members and non members.

Cheers, daifn0

I definitely agree with that. But first off, they should be f2p. As long you have been a member and got them, I don't see any problem with making them an f2p item so you can unequip it if needed. But, back on what dafin0 said, I think it could be possible. The only solution I've had is to make a skill cape merchant somewhere in the f2p section. Then, you can just go to him to get all the capes that aren't necessarily in the f2p sections, but are for f2p skills. It's the only idea I could come up with. That or move all the f2p skill cape owners into f2p territory (which probably wouldn't fly). Granted, that's probably not a good idea, but, something similar to it would be nice. It would be nice to have skill capes in f2p, but not wholly necessary. A 99 is a 99. Tell them to check hiscores. That way, you can brag that people have to look you up all the time. xD

Yes, you need to be a member to have a skill cape. I think they should make skillcapse for f2p too. They'd just be more expensive. like 1m instead of 99k .

Jose, all you would have to do is move the skill masters to F2P areas.

Sigh...I already said this in my post. #-o And there are only 15 f2p skills anyway (unless you are talking about any member masters in non-member that I'm not counting). Anyways, I still think a skill cape merchant would be the way to go. That way, you only have one master for all the missing capes in f2p. It would be much simpler than moving all of them around.
