With regard to Sailing first. I think sailing has the potential to be a skill, but Jagex have denied it countless times, both on forums and in-game, so I'd be extremely suprised if the new skill were Sailing (or similar).

As much as I'd like the new skill to not be money-based (that is, you can't buy your way to 99), I think Jagex will want to be releasing a money sink, much like Construction was, and to a lesser extent, Summoning. I'd like to see a skill similar to Slayer in that vast amounts of money to spend on it really won't help you all that much.

After what you just said, now I totally know it won't be sailing, or some kind of sailing skill, reason, F2P will be able to go around the P2P area. I really doubt they will put some magical force field around a set F2P area as it will seem really weird. So by just that I really doubt it will be Sailing, or some kind of Sailing skill.

Since it'll be a F2P skill, I think it will be a pretty simple skill. Not complex, and not a money drainer exactly. Since low leveled, poor players will have access to it. No idea as to what though..

I remember reading something in the Q&A from MMG about the new skill, saying it would be the most awesome skill, different from any other currently ingame.
Money drainer skill like construction? No, I don't think so too.

dont think they can just release the skill and go on vication. what if there were bugs and glitches, who would fix them.

yeah, just another reason why it won't. And I'm almost positive jagex wouldn't go off releasing it after they've said that they arnt.

i'd wager later in the year than most people have suggested (june - september perhaps) if they truly are taking their time to make it a great skill for both f2p as well as members.
as for it being a money drain it's possible as members seem to need another money drainer with all the cash influx from pvp drop system abuse still. tho with it being a f2p skill as well we might be looking at a great new money maker for the f2p side of it at least. tho we shall have to wait and see later in the year when it actually arrives.

I think a money sink would be good. It's the reason construction is such a valued skill.

construction is only a valued skill because it shows wealth.
