I think there's too much attention payed to this quote. It can be interpreted different ways, no one has to agree with it. How would you like people trying to convince you to agree with a quote you simply don't agree with?... XD

I didn't like the quote until I realized it was in this song:

you need to add a "I'm on the fence" option or something like that. It only makes sense sometimes.

If I spill my glass of water, then things have changed. I no longer have my water and I'm thirsty. Then the water evaporates and becomes steam and eventually becomes water again. So yes, it stays the same in a scenario like that.

If I burn up a piece of paper though, it is now ashes, and it won't be going back to being paper.

It depends on the situation though. I think the phrase is more of a general outlook on life though, and doesn't have to do with the little things.

The definition of the saying given on Wikipedia is true but Shane does not use the phrase to that ends, the way he uses it is in a much simpler term. So saying Shane is right because he is smarter is grossly exaggerated by the simple fact he is using a statement like that at face value. It's getting the jist of it but grossly missing the actual point and direction of the quote. Shane uses 'The more things change...' to imply he believes nothing really changes (as stated in his post above), he never uses it in the context of implying small changes don't really affect the status quo as that definition states. It's also listed as an aphorism meaning that its use is entirely subjective, so even the correct definition is not right all of the time in all situations, Shanes usage of it however is not right any of the time in any situation.

Brad, In case you are wondering I didn't put "Shane is smarter than Brad so no." As a true option thats why I have yes and know. I did it to be fun and see how many people would try to **** you off for the fun of it since you seem to be the kind of guy that likes that kind of thing.

I go with the last option and say it depends. Btw, good typo in the poll. :roll:

I'd say sometimes when things change, things stay pretty much the same. Take for example laws. If a law is passed on a national level and changes something, you might notice it. Change could make everything easier like computers and technology in general, but at this point I think it's safe to assume that life will go on just as it normally is unless some drastic change comes along and everyone notices it and is affected by it.
