I have no antivirus.

AVG sucks, and I had the latest, paid version.

Kaspersky sucks.

I need an antivirus. A good one. With constant updates, a good rootkit scanner, and I don't want it to be intrusive. I want it to just scan when I want to scan. I don't want it to govern everything that happens. I don't need the "internet security" or extra stuff like that, just a good, reliable antivirus.

Any suggestions?

Nod32 Antivirus or Nod32 Smart Security. Works great, it's unobtrusive, and it has a really small footprint.

If you want just the Antivirus aspect, stick with the basic Antivirus. It updates maybe 4-8 times per day (or at least it checks the servers that often) and it's very unobtrusive.

I've heard good things about NOD32. I'll try it out, thanks.

I think "good antivirus" is a bit of an oxymoron nowadays.
Honestly though, what's wrong with AVG? As long as you're not doing anything too extreme on the internet you should be fine running with any basic antivirus. I have a friend irl who swears by NOD32, but I have personally never been let down by AVG in my life. I don't see how it makes any difference. If you are legitimately unsatisfied by AVG then so be it; I'd recommend giving NOD32 a try as I've also heard good stuff about it from other people too.

I use McAfee and it's great. It updates everyday and the scan is really deep. It doesn't interfere unless it wants me to grant access to a new program I just installed.

Why do you think AVG is bad? AVG Free has always been good to me. If your computer is so infected that AVG can't get rid of the trojans then you could keep searching for a program to fix it or you could just reformat your computer.

If you just want to change your anti-virus, you may want to try Avast, although I have no experience with it it looks like a good anti-virus.

Norton might as well give you viruses itself...

I don't see why you think Kaspersky sucks tho. I disagree 110%. It's the best one out there. I haven't gotten a single virus in 2 years. Any others I've heard of would have to be McAfee. I think my middle school used to use it.

Avast or NOD32 Are my other picks I give a big thumbs down to Norton. Our school used their product... Wouldn't update correctly and we ended up with a ton of virus issues.
