RSBANDB Itouch Application

This would be a good idea I think. I would download it.
Some things that could be included-
-Podcast Tab
This tab would have the latest 50 or so podcast from RSBANDB. Digg Nation Podcast has done this. No internet connection required. (Unless updating podcast)

-Forums Tab
This would be a tab where the forums would pop up. Internet connection required.

-Informer Tab
Tab where you could view the latest Informer articles.

who would write this program and who knows how to write a ipa file?
would it be free or cost money?
the podcast thing you said you would need no internet connection
how would that work? does it download the podcast to your ipod?

It's a good idea, however for anyone who does not know it's like pulling teeth to become an iPhone/iTouch developer. Then you have the whole task of getting Apple to approve the app. And no, it wouldn't be for jail broken phones only, that's not nice.

As for who would write it, it would have to be either myself or Mike or someone we choose.

I'm going to keep this open for discussion even though we probably won't see anything like this soon, it'll provide a base for if/when we do decide to do that.

Well you see, as for the podcast updating, it would be like putting them on your ipod. Download them from itunes, but through the internet wifi- no computer needed. As for who would do it, I would learn. Friend have done it

Lets keep this topic to ideas as to what could go into it rather than implementation please. That way we won't lose anyone due to information overload.

Leave the implementation to whoever we choose to do the development of it

um i would say yeah a forum tab, a podcast tab, maybe just an rsbandb announcement tab...with events and updates and stuff

I really don't think enough people would use it to make up for the time put into creating it. And even if we did hold a vote to see how many people would use it, just look at Teamspeak...

I would use the app. I think its a good idea. Another thing to add would be the highscores and SKOTM. Those would be good I think. I think I'm gonna look into how to code apps. Sounds interesting.

After looking at the iPhone/Touch developer program the cost is $99. The fee enables the app to go up onto the App store and be distributed. Applications can't be distributed without that, so I'm afraid we won't be pursuing this. The reason being is that we don't have the expendable funds that can be diverted to this. $99 is a lot to us and it's about 45% of one of our monthly server payments.
