It's called an FM Transmitter. It doesn't directly plug into your car. What it does is you plug the transmitter into your iPod. You set a certain radio station on the transmitter (one that's not occupied in your area). Then you play your iPod. Then you tune your radio to the same station that you set your transmitter at. Then your iPod music plays thru your car stereo. The part that plugs into your car is most likely a cigarette plug that is used to charge your iPod.

You can buy these pretty much at any large store such as Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, Best Buy, Circuit City. Even Radio Shack and places like that.

Yea, don't get a cheap one. I hear they arent that good at all. If you want a good to decent one Id make your investment in a good one such as Monster or Griffin. If you just want to avoid the whole situation, you could buy a Cassette Adapter. They plug into your headphone jack and then you put the other end in you cassette player (providing you have a cassette player).

If you have an aftermarket stereo (like i do) the best and most reasonable option is to by a 1/4" jack cable to go from your headphone jack to the stereos Aux channel. It plays the music with no static or fuzz or anything. This is what I have and i really like it. Before i installed my stereo tho I had a Cassette Adapter by Monster. It was better than the FM Transmitter tho because sometimes the frequencies on that get fuzzy and such.

Just givin' ya a heads up if you're lookin' to buy.

yeah the AUX jack is the best.

ALso dont get battery powered ones, they give less power and the batterys dont last long, using the car power jack is a lot better.

Also, another option is:

To buy a JVC adapotor for you iPod, what this is, is a unit that hooks to the back of your CD player, and then connects to your iPod, if your stereo is semi-new, you will be able to control your iPod from your CD Player controls.

Nope, you just put the casset in and a cord comes out that connects to your iPod.

In all honesty, you should buy a new CD players, a good ones is like $150 it will work withyour ipod, power you speakers more
