It needs to be a random number of charms, from 1-10 per drop. Not 1 a drop.

It's just too slow :\

I agree totally. And even if they don't do that, I would still settle for something maybe like depending on your summoning lvl you can get more charms per drop? Maybe even possibly some type of item (ring, cape, helmet) that you can get or buy that increases the amount of charms per drop. (Not 100% set in stone tho, just like a little "luck booster" such as the ring of wealth.)

Just an idea tho, and like creepy said, 80 gold charms in 2 hours?! thats ridiculous. I do think they took it over board on difficulty. But, changing the rate of charm drops for each monster would make it so much more popular among players. At least for me. :?

They do, but still it's only about 1/5 crabs that drop charms.

So then you still only get 80-100 an hour. Still slow.

I have resorted to doing slayer and just keeping the charms from that, it will be quite slow but steady.

I'll have to agree with trekkie on this, it does seem like a giant money sink. :(

That's A COUPLE OF HOURS and i went from 17-19 summoning. Now if it's taking a couple of hours to make such a tiny leap, i would DREAD to think what it's going to be like at level 50+ and 90+ would be a joke.

I rather like the skill, i like just how tough it is..but i think they may, perhaps have gone over kill on the difficulty.

Creepy, i would say spend a week there, not a few hours. After 3 days i got a nice 270 gold charms and about 50 crimson. As for the dreadfowl attack, no one buys them, even if they are 150-170 each...

I doubt anyone is going to buy most of the scrolls as they are fairly inefective in combat or have no value.

So far the only ones I value are the compost mound (lvl 28) and the Macaw (lvl 41).

I've tried the Macaw three times now and it seems it might be profitable.

On 55 summoner I was able to keep the Macaw alive long enough to use 22 scroll specials whilst getting on with some hunting for bird meat. The drops were as follows:

2 * Nothing
4 * Guam (which is needed to make the Macaw pouch so more useful now)
2 * Marrentill
2 * Tarromion
5 * Aventoe
2 * Irit
2 * Ranar
2 * Kwaurm
1 * Lantadyme

I also got an Irit from the Macaw when talking to it, as it collects herbs at random whilst summoned.

Essentially, for the pouch and 22 scrols the cost was 3.2 * 1950 (78 charms per pouch) = 5,848 gp

So one of the Ranar more than pays for this.

My friend has told me that there is some Summoning monster that also respawns herbs, but it's not the Macaw, is there? Or do you not know?

The only one I know of is the Macaw Steven, I've looked at the familiar's information and there doesn't appear to be any other that provides herbs.

Oh, well thanks anyways.

FOR ANYONE WANTING TO SEE A SMOKE DEVIL:

Go to RuneScape Related Media, go to "Post Your Summoning pictures here!", and go to my post.

Also, I found out a new method of training, Bronze Minotaurs if you can, they're easy my friend says.

They require blue charms though. :P Those aren't to easy to come across but they do give 300exp or so.

I've gotten a few but I can't use them yet, but my friend had about 30 or so and got about 2 summoning levels I think.
