So I have a HP Webcam built into the lid of my laptop, how do I use it? It would be okay to assume there is a program already on my laptop for it right, or to at least be able to take a picture using it right?

Thanks in advance

Well, likely you'd use it with a program that utilizes a webcam. If you want to try it, use something like Skype, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, or other similar chat program.

You can even use websites such as YouTube or Stickam to record your webcam, and upload it to your account. If you want to see random other people, you can try using ChatRoulette.

Good luck, and have fun :)

Before you visit ChatRoullete, be warned you may encounter adult content as it matches you at random, oh the things Ive seen on there.

I think using Live Messenger is what I've seen most people use their webcam for. I know my mac has programs for video recording and picture taking.

I also have this same feature on my laptop. I haven't really used it, but I do know there is a program to access it by itself. There should be an HP MediaSmart tab on the taskbar if you left it there. If you click on that, a bar should pop up with a couple different items on it. Choose the webcam to access it. I haven't used it yet for anything, but like everyone said, you should be able to figure out how to use it online if you ever want to. Sites probably have a how-to showing you how. Hope that helps.

So long as drivers are installed (which they should be), you can use your webcam, as other people have said, with programs that utilise them (MSN, Skype, etc.) However you often find that manufacturers include a pre-installed program that allows you to take still photos, record, etc. with the webcam. Have a look for such a program in the Start menu- it may or may not be there.

Yeah, I was assuming that the manufacturers would include a pre-installed program as well, just didn't know where to find it.

Thanks all, let you know if I have anymore trouble finding it. :)
