07-Sep-2010 - Elite Achievement Diaries

This week sees an Elite tier of tasks added to all existing Achievement Diaries (save for Ardougne, which already had Elite tasks, though there is now an Ardougne cloak 4 reward), plus a review of all the old rewards to make them work in a consistent way and be more user friendly. The Lumbridge/Draynor diary has had Hard tasks added instead, all of which are available to free players.

Should you rise to the challenge, you’ll be skilling your way around the world baking pies, fletching bows, manic mining, fighting some seriously dangerous critters and a lot more besides. Face some of the biggest challenges that exist in the world of RuneScape to complete these diaries and, if you succeed, you’ll find yourself worthy of receiving the Elite rewards!

Rewards, I hear you cry? Yes, in true Achievement Diary tradition, you’ll not only get experience lamps, but also some useful rewards to help in your everyday RuneScape life. These can range from the very generic, like teleports, to the very specific, like a handy shortcut in Brimhaven Dungeon.

You’ll also find that existing Achievement Diary rewards will have changed very slightly. Things like toggles for teleports, where possible, are now done by talking to NPCs rather than on the objects. If you have earned the ability to toggle the destination of the Watchtower or Varrock Teleport spells, you’ll find your POH portals will also take you and your friends to wherever you’ve toggled them to go!

Quite a lot of the existing rewards now no longer require the related diary clothing to be worn for you to benefit from them, but, to make sure you’re not missing out on your rewards, you’ll also receive a little message for those times when you would have received a benefit if you had been wearing some Achievement Diary clothing.

The Achievement Diary section of the Game Guide lists all of the new tasks and indicates which rewards require you to be wearing the reward clothing and which ones do not.

Good luck, elite adventurers!

We all know the Ardougne Elites, so I'll leave those out. You can view them here: http://www.runescape.com/kbase/guid/ard ... ievement#Elite_Tasks

I rate this a 2, not because I can only do the lumby/draynor one, but because they seem to benefit only the few who spent double exp weekend all on herblore. Not only that, but the rewards are god awful. Who uses those coal trucks anyway? LRC are faster and more efficient. I am sure a couple may be of use for some med level players, but I think anyone who is going to be casting Bones to Bananas is not going to be someone with the levels to complete that diary. The one that I would love to have though, would have to be the seal of passage one. Does that mean if someone has that done, and toggled, they won't need the seal of passage? I think that could have been worded better myself.

Even that part of the reward isn't useful, you can already get away with not having the seal of passage. You can tell Lokar you are just going to pirate's cove and he will take you there and Captain Bently will take you to Lunar Isle without problems. When you get on the Isle, you just have to use Bird's eye jack as your banker. How often do you talk to anyone else on the isle? In most cases you don't even need the seal. If you accidentally do talk to someone else, you just have to walk away rather than click continue on their text and you wont be kicked off the island.

I agree that the rewards are fairly underwhelming for the very high requirements.

It would be nice to know how much more damage you can do to dagannoth kings with the fremennik sea boots 4 and if it works with all combat styles or just melee...

I have to say, these elite diaries are exactly that. Even with my high total, there isn't a single set of the new diaries that I can totally complete. Will give me some levels to shoot for but to be honest, some I doubtfully will ever obtain. Like 91 rc lol.

I've got to admit, I'm an Achievement Diary Junky. I love all the rewards and trying to complete all the tasks keeps me motivated and focused on working. Just got the Explorer's Ring 4 and the free daily helping of Superheat and High Level Alchemy spells is cool.

I agree though that there is way too much emphasis on high herblore.

If I had 92 Herblore, I could do my first elite diary. :P After 99 Dungeoneering this is going to be my goal, getting the levels I need to complete the diaries. :) Going to be a lot of hunting in my future to cover the cost for getting 92 herblore and 95 prayer. :P

So once again it's a good idea ruined by poor rewards?

I really think it's the way the games set up. They can't award players because the whole point is to grind exp. Theres no end game so they just try to stop you getting to end game..i guess.

Good concept, I like the idea of making a really high goal for you to work at.
Unfortunately it is mostly lacking in rewards therefore i will not be grinding just to do these. 3/5

I didn't see this before. Good update, though out of reach for some people sadly...like me atm.
