A very happy New Year to you all! We hope that you are filling your boots with good cheer and Party Pete-like celebrations.

During the first half of 2009 we learnt a whole lot from our community and focused mostly on improving our underlying technology and switching back to weekly updates. While this was possibly less exciting to some, it was very necessary to set the stage to make possible the updates we had planned for the second half of the year. Looking back at 2009, there have been some pretty big updates. A few highlights include:

* Finishing the goblin storyline with The Chosen Commander.
* High-level training updates for several skills with the Living Rock Caverns, the Agility extensions and the Woodcutting sawmill.
* New rewards for skills, like the ancient curses, the extreme potions and the dragon pickaxe.
* The Evil Tree.
* Cool quests like Curse of Arrav, Blood Runs Deep, Hunt for Red Raktuber and The Temple at Senntisten.
* The Objective and Advisor systems.
* And let’s not forget about new support for resizing the game window (even in Standard Detail mode) - no more playing in a tiny window!

So, what is the new year going to bring? For one, we want to continue producing quests at the rate and quality that we have been, which means expanding the most popular storylines and bringing a couple to dramatic conclusions. We’ll also be casting a critical eye over our existing skills, searching for holes, and filling them with new training activities and rewards. That’s before we even mention the new skill that is coming in 2010! And yes, there will be new combat equipment as well, and also a new Grandmaster quest – but more on that closer to release.

Of course, we haven’t planned every single update yet because we want to take on board your ideas for RuneScape content as well, and naturally give ourselves the spare resources to make it happen. RuneScape’s success over the last decade wouldn’t have been possible without your passionate input, and we promise to continue to solicit and take on board your feedback. So, go to the forums and get your ideas seen, heard, then - in some cases – even played in 2010!

We hope you have a great one!

Andrew, Mark Gerhard and Mod Fetzki

There's not much to say here.
My expectation for 2010 aren't very high this time. The new skill doesn't seem very exciting at the moment and I can't think of anything revolutionary that they will add in the future.

This year we've had good updates but the majority of them were bad, in my opinion.

I loved the Christmas event, but didn't like Halloween very much along Easter's event.
The ivy addition to woodcutting was horrible, just terrible. Woodcutting was fine how it was and now they've made it far too easy just like cooking and fletching.
The objective and advisor systems seem pointless to me, but I guess it can help people that can't set their goals.
I can't remember if the notes system was added this year... Assuming it was this year, I liked it. I could finally free my ignore list (I used it as my notepad) :D.
The machinima competition was great, although I wasn't accepted, I liked watching entries from other people.
The adventurer's log, great addition!
Runescape Brazil - I won't even comment this... Thanks for not making a Portuguese version jagex.

And finally: The runescape classic re-opening. It was a great idea to allow new players who never played classic to try it out, nice move.

Can't remember any more highlights...
Probably mobilising armies, but never tried it...

I lol'ed when they mentioned the sawmill (which nobody uses) but neglected to mention the controversial ivy (which nearly everyone uses)

yeah, but there are more people that play in brazil, it has a larger population, larger economic impact and brazilian guys love videogames, so they can make more money though catering to brazil and brazilian portuguese(que é mais universal, that's more universal)
it'll be interesting to see what the new skill actually is...

A Kid asked Jesus, "How much do you love me?" and Jesus said. "This much." And spread his arms out on the cross and died. If you believe that he did this for you put this in your signature.

I have pretty high hopes for this year, and I expect the seasonal events to be alot better that this year's. And the new skill? Enough said, we'll see what it is when it comes out. I hope it isn't another money drainer or else my bank won't be worthy anymore!

Happy new year!

Oh sorry that's not what I meant, I don't mind having just a Brazilian community at all . Its actually good to have Portuguese people together. :)
I just don't like the way the translations were made. It almost seems like it was translated with Google language tools or something.

0/5 from me as it's not really a runescape update, it's just them telling what happened throughout the year, but it is nice to look back and remember what came out this year.

I think it's worth 5/5. Only reason is cause I'm optimistic. But I swear, if they screw up this year, I'll just keep playing Runescape. XD

But seriously, I hope this year will be better than the last few which, in my opinion, have been iffy at best. :?
