I agree. If it is partly combat driven, then I'm totally in the dark on what it could be. Here's what I thought in the other new skill thread:

Quote:
The problem I always run into when considering the new skill is that something I think up as a new skill could always fit under an existing skill. I don't think it would be a stretch to say that Jagex has pretty much exhausted most skill ideas at this point. Right now, they'd either have to 1)make up something fictional like magic or summoning or 2) look very hard for something they or I might have overlooked. The real test behind considering new skills is whether it can already fit under a current skill. For example, when I first considered construction, I thought it was something that went under the crafting skill. Although this could be true, Jagex made the skill anyway with plenty of different things to use and ways to train than crafting. Anyways, if I had to take a stab in the dark at what the new skill might be, I couldn't say for sure. But, from looking at some of the occupations on a medieval site, I came up with a few possibilities.

-Gravedigging Skill
-Musician Skill
-Engraving Skill
-Jester Skill
-Sailing Skill
-Astrology Skill
-Spy Skill
-Healer/Physician Skill

That's the best I got. I bet the new one has to be related to one of them for sure. ;)

Those are my thoughts.

Really any skill can be combat driven. Summoning, Herblore, Runecrafting, and Agility have combat applications, but don't directly influence combat.

you've got a good point. And I think this question backs you up there.
3. Will the new skill be good for pures to use in PvP?
3. Aspects of it will, yes.

That makes it even harder to figure out. XD As I am not a PvPer I don't really know what pures need, but it could be something that helps them attack... That's my only guess.

Maybe it's music, so that the pures can play a tiny violin about the mistreatment of them.

if its a combat driven skill, then could it be maybe a martial arts type skill where you fight with ur hands instead of weps?

aaaah, the legendary ninja/samurai towns.....the nostalgia....
martial arts have been suggested since RS2 came out. It would be awesome, but I personally doubt that jagex would do it.

A Kid asked Jesus, "How much do you love me?" and Jesus said. "This much." And spread his arms out on the cross and died. If you believe that he did this for you put this in your signature.

I doubt that Jagex would release a martial arts skill. I do not doubt that eventually there will be an eastern land, its only a matter of time. However, if people were able to fight with their hands and whatnot, that would render combat almost completely useless.

Hmm... Maybe. You never know. I couldn't think of a idea that would be combat related so that could be something. Maybe something with the hands, or bringing all 3 types of combat together. That could be an idea?

I heard this as a rumour, not knowing whether is true but it is going to be sailing and that it will be released on the 1st of April, as an April fools joke/surprise, and they are just trying to hide it because it was leaked. Personally I dont think so. I think that is is going to be and idea that nobody has thought of, and will be orginal and complicated.

Could be then. But I hope it's soon. Not next Monday as that is the Puro-Puro update, but maybe first Monday of March?

They have been slowly pushing the date back, I think they're saying Q2 2010 now. I still have no idea what it is going to be because I can't really think of any other skill that Jagex can add into the game. Well, we can always hope for a March release, because I don't know about you guys, but I'm starting to get sick of waiting.

Aren't we all. XD I wonder if that new land mass is going to be involved in the new skill. I mean it just appeared and Fremmink are guarding it. Either new bosses or part of the new skill, seeing they said it was going to allows F2P into a larger area.

I would enjoy something like taming.
Things you could do are:
1) Get monsters to fight for you for a certain period of time and you can get your rope enhanced with gems and enchants to keep them fighting with you longer. (1- goblins 99 - Daganoths?)
2) Tame Monsters to ride on them, (25- horse 75- Dragon 99- Kalphite Queen)
3) Permenently Tame a monster (non members) or 3 (members) To keep in stables (or for Members also in houses)
4) the companion that you permenently keep you can level up, but each has a certain limit, Like the goblin can only go up to about 40 etc.

I made this before summoning came out so I realise theres sort of a resemblance, But it does fit in to everything they said!

Monster taming-combat
New land-could be where you train your companion or learn about the skill (like the summoning and herblore quests)
Pvp- fighting with a monster helps right?

:D this has been an Idea of mine for a long time
hope you like it, and hopefully JaGeX sees this and considers it if its not the new skill XD
