Runescape on console?

I really want runescape on console, but I wanted to know what you guys think... I'm on my phone so I can't make a poll or anything... But if u guys would comment on how you feel, I would appreciate it greatly.

They wont put it on the consoles unless Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo agree too allow the consoles to play together (which won't happen).

They could do like some games and only one console supports it... I have them all so it makes no difference to me

I've always thought about this possibility ever since I started playing like 7 years ago. However, my view on how they would do it has changed. I think it would be a bad idea to have the MMO elements to it if it was on console. I could go into more detail about this but I don't want it to be a TL:DR post.

Basically what I thought might be able to work out is that the main story mode or campaign of the game would be a derivative of some or all of the quest lines in RuneScape. You would still be able to go around and train skills and you would need to in order for quest requirements. It would basically be a single player version with NPCs of course. Then the multiplayer mode of the game could be some sort of matchmaking with the duel-arena/wilderness/clan wars and then have a mini-game matchmaking like for stealing creation/pest control/etc. Just a thought. And obviously not very refined.

Gameplay on a console and gameplay on a computer are infintely different. Put evenly matched players on each and have them fight each other and the computer person will almost always win. RuneScape has too many different things going on at once to be usable on a console.

I don't see how combat would fail on a console since it's not that complicated, is it? Point and click, some food/potions, and maybe a special attack.

Exactly. I don't see why combat would fail either. Maybe something similar to something like Dragon Age or Elder Scrolls Oblivion. Just because it originated as point and click, doesn't mean its physically impossible for console. And another thing I don't think people are understanding is: we're not talking about a replacement for the browser version. This would just be a fun little side thing that prolly wouldn't even be an MMO.

So yeah, I definitely think its possible. But it feels like there's no middle ground. People either hate the idea and rage for hours or they love it.

I have been suggesting this for ages. There needs to be a handheld RuneScape. It just needs to happen.

I never thought about what Warren said about interoperability between the platforms, but that's just another definite reason why it won't happen.

That, plus assigning all of the keybindings to a single controller, and Jagex would have a heck of a task getting it to happen. Don't expect it any time soon.

I can't imagine playing RS on my xbox xD It's just not a suited game for consoles. It's for computers.

Idk though, I'd like to try it just for the hell of it.

Nope. Some games are strictly meant for PC only and not consoles. I believe Runescape is one of them.

Based on this, I found this article. Apparently Jagex is looking to bring RuneScape to all of the current platforms, but as many of the comments on this thread have pointed out, interoperability between platforms is generally frowned upon by Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft.
