yea just dropping the book and getting another wont work have to ask him for a replacement with a full bag of anything to say he has it 1st. then free up some bag space and pickup the old 1st.
u dont have to buy vials from him (or take money either) just take a beast of burden and a bagload of anything non-stackable, or a few worn items to fill up ur bag fully once u drop the first book.
