For mostly Netflix, word processing (through Google Docs), a little Runescape, and college shenanigans....MacBook Pro (Basic, non retna-display model) or the MacBook Air?
If you are already running google docs why not go with a Chrome Book? I'm a grad student so take this as you want, you want an apple product as a status symbol, yes?
Most, and I mean 95% of my professors would not accept files from a Mac. I ditched my mac book after my 1st semester of undergraduate. If i could go back I would of started day 1 with Chrome Book
You can take my advice, but remember this post when you walk across campus to your buddies house or dorm and forget your mac hdmi cable and can't hook up your laptop to the TV... then you will know
