It's hilarious how WoW players think 7.6 million players active is an example of how the game has fallen, while we're sitting here with, what, 1 million AT BEST?

We don't even have 500k active.
Of course it depends on your meaning of 'active'.
If you mean gets on at least once a week, I'd say we have between 100k-200k.
MMO's, in general, are declining in interest. That's why so much of RS today is around 18-28. That generation just had more appreciation for MMO's. Not sure how the future will unfold...
That is a very good point. MMOs were our generation. The new generation doesn't like that type of game. I think a lot of that is due to them thinking it too hard or not exciting enough.
Hence the devaluing of so many achievements that, 10 years ago, were chimerical at best. Max cape? Yeah, right. I like the game today, but it's clear that they're trying to appeal to a lazy generation
