thoughts on this for RS (max graphics) and maybe games like Cod/BF at medium settings? (and work/browsing)?? http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/quotes/optimusV-17/eJ8Vs4qkxd/

Looks pretty good, the hard drive is kind of meh (but they don't give you much choice) and I am pretty sure that Intel HD Audio is more like 5+ channels not 2 so they got that wrong. Go for it.
Not to bothered about HD size as I have externals, but I don't know how rpm, cache and Gb/s affect performance, help?
Don't even worry about externals. What I would do? Get an SSD on newegg, install the OS on that, it will make the PC's OS about 2x faster. ( Seeing how you have a second HD bay )
Don't worry about hard drive performance too much but that drive can do around 100MB/sec sequential reads and writes which is decent. The Gb/s is just the theoretical max speed of SATA II.
But as Killjoy said buying an SSD and putting it in the spare bay to run Windows (and some games) off of is a good option since an SSD will massively decrease load times etc.
Is getting an SSD (120GB KINGSTON HYPERX 3K SSD, SATA 6 Gb/s (upto 555MB/sR | 510MB/sW)), worth the extra £103??
No, you are better off buying one on your own and installing it yourself :P
Ok one last thing. What about this one instead? It's ~£150 cheaper but slightly different CPU and graphics http://www.medion.com/gb/prod/MEDION%C2%AE++ERAZER%C2%AE+X7819+%28MD98392%29/30015736A1
Nice find! Personally I would go with the 15.6" version of it because it comes with 16GB of RAM as opposed to 8GB in the 17.3" version. Link in next reply because of character limit.
Everything else is the same as the 17.3" version. Oh and it is also slightly cheaper than the 17.3" version. http://www.medion.com/gb/prod/MEDION%C2%AE+ERAZER%C2%AE+X6823+%28MD98253%29/30014981A1
Oh and incase you were wondering the performance is nearly the same CPU and GPU wise compared to the first one. http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/quotes/optimusV-17/eJ8Vs4qkxd/
