Had my iPod charging/data cable go bad. Start smoking when I plugged it in. I have used it many times before, very strange. Luckily I pulled it out (lol) before it could catch fire or anything worse.
I was unaware it was a common thing to abuse cables? Whenever i'm not using it, I roll it up and put it in a cabinet. Call me crazy, I think that's the most unharmful way of treating a cable.
And Bonsai, Same exact thing here. That's the end the smoke was coming out of, too. I got the cord for free from a friend, there's a good chance he didn't take care of it. It was cracked when I got it
I have a docking station, so I can still charge it. No syncing, though. :(( I'm just glad I didn't leave it plugged in overnight (rarely happens) and it went bad.
