If they let free players play classic I'm sure that it would be far more active than it is now. (I think its like 10 players on each of the 2 servers on average)
They announced in the Behind the Scenes for September that they'd be reopening a window for Classic for the last time. Hopefully it doesn't get pushed back to October.
