This is what I have: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 512MB, is this one of the faulty ones?

ok I got a evga/Nvidia e-Geforce 8600 GT 512 like dark thats a bad one?? Dam it!!
The fix NVIDIA is providing to users is a driver that will keep the fans of PCs on to help manage the thermal issue.
ouch sorta glad i got the 8800 instead of the 8600 that most shops were offering back when i bought my last system.
I have an NVIDIA Card, but how do I find out which one I have, and if it is faulty which actions do I take? Take my laptop back to circuit city and see what they will do?
