Well yeah. As long as you have a username that has access to Alpha, you can get onto private servers just fine. It's VERY BUGGY right now though. I hope they put in a lobby-like system in the future.
im running one right now, currently 87/100 players online using a VPS and people pay for Opp. The minecraft servers are part of the game. just like multiplayer for call of duty
