At those levels if you want to get rich quick, get to level 20 and go pvping. Or is that not too..? Anyway, by making money you vastly increase what you can do and open up better access to skills.
Mining is just about as good as you can do for money in free-to-play, although it can be atrociously annoying. I prefer woodcutting for the afk-ablity, but trees are very crowded in f2p.
