my new laptop's trackpad is like too smooth and there is too much friction on my fingertip, i can hardly move it around, halp?

use a mouse :p
make sure both surfaces are clean and not wet.

they are both clean and dry, i've had this problem since i opened it, the surface is just REALLY smooth and glossy, if i like put a sheet of paper over it it works great but doesn't seem sensible in

the long run, i picked up this laptop at best buy for a 1 day sale for really cheap, so not going to replace it

Get a mouse. Unless you only casually use the laptop it's definitely worth it.
