Liquidsn4k3's Range Guide (p2p and f2p)
Update going on now!
Ok. You have seen those rangers in the wildy own the %@&# outta you, and you wanna be just like them. Well, this guide will give a clearer idea of what to do pking and training wise.
F2P & low P2PTraining areas!:
Your f2p, or your a pure ranger, waiting to kick some other ours butt. Well, first off, assuming you have at least 60k, head on down to the varrock range shop. At this place, the bronze arrows never increase in price, so you can buy 2k of them, and its still 6 gp ea. Buy all the arrows in the shop, and repeat until you have about 10k arrows.
Your first training spot is Chickens in lumbridge. Train on these until 10 range:
Now, its time to move onto cows! Joy! Walk to the crafting guild, and bring as many arrows as you would like. Stand behind the fence, and shoot away at the cows. Dont pick up arrows, as that slows down your training. Train here till 20
You are now at least 20 ranged, and its time to move on to barbarians in the village, east of varrock. Pick up your arrows this time, as you will need them later on. Stay here till 40 range.
You now can wear the best f2p armor for rangers, green dragonhide! Assuming your pure, wear the chaps and vambs, and save the body for when you do dragon slayer. From 40 ranged on, train at moss giants in varrock sewers, until 55 range. After 55 range, head on over to karjama, and range lessers there. At f2p, it doesnt get much better than lessers, so you are there for the rest of your f2p life. However, p2p is much much different...
P2P Mid to High training areas!!:
Lvl 40 to 50: You can use a Yew bow in p2p, instead of a Maple bow. You should have about 7k arrows left, give or take 200. For these lvls, i suggest the ranged guild south-east of Seers. Bring about 100k, and just shoot at the targets for xp.
Option 2:
Moss Giants under varrock sewers. these are less crowded on p2p, so make use of the rocks, and range them. DO this until 50 ranged.
50 to 60 ranged:
Do Priest in Peril, a rather easy quest. You can now weild the Magic Shortbow, the best ranged bow in the game. It gives a great bonus, and with it, you can shoot a special, to hit twice really fast! Head to the Canifis Pub, east of Varrock, and shoot the werewolfs from behind the tables. get 60 ranged from this place, then do The Waterfall Quest.
60 to 70 Range:
For these lvls, head to Baxtorian Falls, and go in the dungeon. Kill the Fire Giants, they give great xp and loot. You might have to hop worlds alot, as they get crowded quickly at peak times. You will need more arrows, so buy more arrows using the method mentioned in the beginning of the guide.
70-99 range
You can use the infamous black Dragonhide armor, the best range armor in the game! For training, you can use fire giants till whichever lvl you desire, or you can take a risk, and head to the greaters in the lava maze in lvl ~40 wilderness.
You can also train at caged greaters, they drop clues and rune larges every so often, allowing you to get back the money from your arrows you lose.
And one last note, the best spot for training is wilderness fire giants or Greaters in the Lava Maze or caged ones. Why? Rarely there is a pker, and its great xp and loot. I went from 81 range to 87 range at wilderness fires, thats how good they are.
Well, now, you have mastered ranging, and can continue to get 99, or stop any lvl you wish.
You max out range at lvl 95 range, as in you hit 20 with rune at 95 without a pot.
A range Pot gives 15% of your range lvl added on, so if you have 89 range, it pots to 101! At 99 range, you pot to 112.
Any questions, pm me in RS, or on this site.
Happy ranging
