Hate the whole idea of it. I will not be logging into it. I have watched youtube clips of it and do not understand how people could really be that happy about going backwards in graphics, game play etc. It reminds me of when i found my old Atari 2600 and was excited, remembering how much fun i had on it all those years ago. I plugged it in to my TV, loaded up space invaders and sat to play. After about an hour, I realized my memories were way better than playing it now. Nostalgia is a wonderful thing and memories of the past can be sweet, but that's where they belong.... as memories. In spite of my feelings though, I hope that everyone who is excited to have it back have fun and enjoy themselves.
Happy Runescaping on whichever server you play Pyrn

I love it. It is the True Runescape. I really hope the votes will reach 500k or near enough for Jagex to top it off.
2007Scape is pretty much been what I expected. And(this may sound strange) but I'm actually glad I don't have my old skills and gear. I mean, it would be great to have them, but starting from scratch with my current knowledge creates new interesting challenges and fun tid bits. Doing quests designed for higher levels(but I'm able to due to my knowledge), skirting around a high level monster, etc.
One of the biggest things I've noticed is that players have to actually WORK for their levels(which I knew from experience). People are appreciating their skills and others' skills more now because experience is hard to get. There's no easy freeby experience from dailys or some such things. If you want high woodcutting, go pick up an axe and get cutting.
There are a few utility updates from current scape that wouldn't hurt 2007Scape(toolbelt, hitpoint meter/run energy at minimap, run staying on through logouts, some other things). But I won't cry if they're not added. I hope Jagex will specifically NOT add major updates like GE.
For those who don't understand why 2007Scape appeals to over 400k players, you probably didn't play much if any Runescape around 2004-2007. You think the graphics are terrible because you're used to Jagex new graphics(personally, I prefer the old graphics because that is what the Real Runescape looked like).
In a way it is like me playing Diablo III and then one day playing Diablo I. Sure, it's 20 odd years older and the graphics may seem like junk compared to III, but they were pretty dang good for their time and they fit the game, which is the most important part of graphics. The game play of D1 is also different from D3, but it is good because it is unique.
So yes, I love it. It's fine with me if others prefer EOCScape. I just don't see why someone would be against 2007Scape(I know you aren't, Pyr). If you don't like 2007Scape, don't play it.

Killjoy, the reason many of us hate it, is we feel it is going to affect the current game in a negative way. Although, after more thought, I have come to believe that Jagex had intended to release this regardless of what their supposed poll results were. There is no way they could have announced a poll because they just "happened" to find an old server with the 07 game backed up on it and had it ready for release in under a week. They have divided a community.. I have copped abuse several times when the initial poll was put up because I refused to vote for it. I don't mind Jagex trying to make extra revenue, but to run under the pretense of this poll is underhanded. If they believe they have made mistakes in the current game, then admit it and work on fixing it. Don't go and release old content and drag players away from the current game. Also, it is hard to really believe that they will hire a new team to develop the 07 server. They will divide time on their current staff to work on both versions. This will cause delays in rectifying problems in the 2013 game. We all know it's not perfect at the moment, but don't you think the time would be better spent improving what people say is wrong now, rather than trying a "quick fix" of introducing the old server? Surely with the development team they have, they could have introduced a new mini game and had all the specials still available in their in much the same way as dungeoneering works. I would like to see just where the 07 server will be in 6 months time. However, it is no use arguing about it... the server is here and I am betting that the vote will not go beyond the 450-460K range. Jagex have done it for the extra revenue. Keeping the votes under 500K will ensure an extra $5 a month out of their players. Hopefully this money will help improve the current system. If it does, then I will be happy. I just hate to see the real game affected and the community divided so much. Anyone with an opinion against the 07 servers seem to get trashed heavily. Just look up any youtube clip and go through the comments. The raging and abuse that these people receive for having an opinion that the 07 supporters don't like is disgraceful. Anyway, I do hope you all continue to enjoy whichever version you play and that my fears remain unrealised. Perhaps the current game will only hurt for a short time and people will drift back when they novelty wears off. I just hope they don't quit altogether and find another game since the membership will almost double if they want to play the 07 server.
Happy rsing all Pyrn

Like Pyrn, I've no intention of starting back with the 2007 version. I don't like all of what has been introduced since then but there has been a lot of genuine improvement. And it will inevitably split development time and efforts. It is also going to be a problem when we start to get new developments in the 2007 game, is it going to be a case of those players who Pyrn mentions raging all the time to get their own way to introduce the best updates since 2007 up to the current game and then leave the EOC playing member stuck with the likes of SOF and the store, etc.
I've watched my younger son go onto 2007 after never having played it thinking it would be great, get bored after a day and then not bother.

I'm loving this. It brought me back after about 6 years of retirement. I won't be playing as seriously as I did before but its enjoyable.
P.S: hello oldschoolers of RSB&B!

No, you can't just pay for the 07 membership, you need to pay an additional $5 a month to do it, which is why there is no chance the counter will go over 460K... Jagex aren't doing it out of love, they are a business and if it is not going to improve the bottom line, then it won't happen. As for Mod Mark promising that introducing the 07 servers won't affect the current game, may I as then... Where is the new quest promised for February? Since yesterday was the last Wednesday of the month, I don't see us getting it in February, so I will assume that the 07 servers are ALREADY affecting the real game.
