Its not like we didn't have essence before free trade, why would we need bots as our source of essence now?

Years ago I remember doing a similar thing to flax spinner bots who were spinning at the lumby castle. I reported them and kept track of their stat's. Month's later they were still gaining crafting xp. I think it stinks that so many botter accounts clog up the highscores like that. I also reported them on the Runescape forum's and promptly got scolded by a mod for mentioning their names in the post.

I disagree with the notion that botting isn't so bad because of the supplies they generate, such as essence. If bot's weren't supplying essence, there would still be a supply. The demand would go up, the essence price would increase, and as a result, legit players would be motivated to use that as a source of income, especially low level players. Then the runescape economy might feel a little more realistic.

I also think though that too many people automatically think someone is a bot because of the way they play the game. I myself get constantly accused of being a bot because I rarely respond to "level requests", or other forms of chatter. I also usually do skilling without any clothes on, so that makes them think I must be botting. Most of the time now I just play in the quickchat world 160 so I don't have to listen to nonsense like that.

But now you can buy the essence you need .. and at bulk prices!'

I think there should be a quick chat for "Botter?"

Nice idea, I hope we don't discover what we already suspect.

@thelion777
yeah I get accused of botting almost daily. [-X

But I doubt Jagex would really ban any bots that are members. They just want their money. sad really. corruption!!
If we have to deal with lots of bots. at least they should go back to all having that green pants.. yellow shirt.. blad scalp default look.

Hasn't Jagex already said they don't make much out of bots anyway cause the majority are using stolen credit cards? The majority are for those dodgy sites that sell gold and ****.

I don't for one second believe they keep bots about just cause they want the money that's never been there style. We'd see microtransactions and all sorts of **** polluting this game by now if it was the case. No it's not that. I think there just **** useless at catching them.

Good point there.

But what pushes my buttons even more.. then just the bots themselves, is when Jagex says that they " are on it " and can handle the bot problem.
That they can easily detect who is using bot programs and that they deal with them.

classic bluff.

If that was true, they'd be the ones selling gold and stuff.

But if they banned a bot the bot owner would just make a new account and resubscribe then Jagex would make another 5$.

You have to think that Jagex realizes that the more and more players get disgusted with the bot problem, the higher likelihood that they will quit the game. Bad press is bad press. If you quit because the game goes down the tubes due to botting, and tell your friends, man that is some bad publicity. Jagex would soon find out that the only players that are online are the bots. Is that really worth it?

The only players will not be bots because to have bots you have to have players. It's the people buying the gold to support the bots that are the problem. What happened to the sweatshop workers too XD

It's not just RWT companies that use bots. I know quite a few formerly legit players who turned to botting (and were perm banned, I might add).

Yeah but it's not those people who are the problem. They make up a really small portion of the total bots.
