Tbh it's not As hard as jagex makes it... If they had moderators go to common botting areas it would b very easy to catch bitters and ban them

Common places they should look:magic trees near Camelot, world 2 sorc garden, any f2p world in dravnor woodcutting, and out chin hunting.

VAC. Need I say more?
VALVE Corporation has software that looks for commonly used cheating programs and bans anyone who uses them on a VAC-secured server. While RuneScape loads, Jagex can probably scan your computer for such programs and flag any accounts used on said computer as a possible bot.

Correction Jagex do have something like this inbeded in the loader the fact is that, people producing the bots make it so when the bot injects into the client loader its undetectable as they can posible be and when jagex are able to detect it they change it again...

This is the same technique used by the people who develop Maplestory hacks (my cousin makes these). The way they do it is, they have their own client so that they can inject the bot after the game scans for third party software (in Maplestory, they inject it after the splash screen so that Hackshield cannot detect it).

Also, do you guys remember when Jagex changed the NPC ID for Augury (the rune essence guy in Varrock), when they gave the Runecrafting cape to the girl in the Magic guild? Right after this update, the price of pure essence skyrocketed, and now it is back down to the bottom of the barrel. In my opinion, no matter what Jagex does to prevent botting, the bot makers will always have a way to go around it. They might slow them down for a while, but they will never stop them.

Lol imo if pmods get the power to ban bots their should be like some strict thing to the point that they don't even want to bother because like... if they ban someone they think is botting who actually isn't then it's going to be a pain for them to get unbanned and I doubt Jagex would even do much to remove false bans asap or even check if the bans were correct...

I got falsely muted by a pmod and was unmuted within 2 hours.

Apparently colourblind people couldn't do them so thats why they were removed

There's a simple soluton: Make the puzzle something like a simple math problem (addition or subtraction) or the old puzzle minus colors.

To my knowledge RuneScape used to have a capatcha system a few years ago.
RuneScape combats botters with Randoms, updates, reports and the helpful update which logs you out to the lobby after 6 hours of straight gameplay time. What you need to realize is that these cheaters have a huge influence on the market, imagine paying up to 500gp for a raw lobster or 3Kgp for a cooked shark.
Bots provide the raw material we legit players take advantage of.

By no means am I saying that the RuneScape community is dependent on these cheaters; Just because sweat shops are cheap doesn't mean Americans depend on them.

Also I believe if Jagex implanted that so called VaC system it would violate EU law.

Kind regards,

Are you assuming no honest player goes fishing or cooks? Without bots, the player base as a whole would decide the prices, not just the buyers.

If the demand is too high the price goes sky high. Basically bothers are like foreign immigrants, they will work for less money.
The price of essentials would soar so high Jagex would have to step in to control the price (See climbing boots update)
If there were no bots, the supply of said goods would decrease. A decrease in supply increases equilibrium price and decreases quantity traded. As prices increase legit players would increase completing tasks botters do this would decrease the price and increase the quantity. More and more legit players would start to take share as they would gain profit thus the opposite would happen as mentioned above. That's what I meant by saying RuneScape isnt dependent on botters. You see today money is a big part of human life, if botters would quit they would also quit supplying RuneScape with money gained from membership and other goods.

Kind regards,
MW2Monkey

From what I've heard theres going to be a BIG update to prevent botting in the next few weeks. My friend was fishing and ended up talking to a j mod so I figure the j mod was telling the truth.

My idea is that if you don't talk for 30 mins, or you get a "gift" worth 1 mil or more, you get. a randomly selected random with no reward from one of avalable randoms. You can't program the bots because they don't know what random the will get.

Bots are programmed to be able to complete all randoms

Uhm I posted here in response to you Koil so I guess I suck and didn't submit it or someone was drinking while modding and removed it ???

But yeah if bots couldn't complete random events, I'm sure there wouldn't be a botting problem? Random events don't stop bots, it just makes it harder to make one.
