I'd suggest taking only what you need depending on a few things. How long will you be living there? Who will be living there with you? Is it close or far away from home? Are there nearby stores?
The reason I say this is when I went to college to the dorms, I was very close to home, but I packed in a lot of stuff. I ended up not needing a lot of the stuff. Granted, a dorm isn't an apartment, but it is like one in regards to size usually. The less stuff you need, the easier to move in and out of an apartment. Especially when you are close to home, you might as well make the trip to grab what you need or take back what you don't need. Otherwise, with that advice, I'd say take what you want, but if you want to make it easier, take your essentials first and then decide from there that else you want or need. Have fun being in your own place!
