Because they don't do any work prior to the X Factor finals, right?
They don't work hard doing gigs/trying to get noticed by record labels to no avail. They don't go through a difficult application process, they don't sing infront of millions of people each week, after practicing the same song over and over prior to that week. They're not put infront of 4 judges, some of which can be down right *****, they're not given constructive criticism and then told to go off and work on it.
They magically appear 2 weeks before Christmas, with their voice magically trained so they can step on the stage, blurt out some song Simon Cowell has given them and win the X Factor and subsequently the Christmas #1.
No, they don't work hard at all, you're right.
I think your "this is coming from someone who likes RATM and doesn't like X Factor" was somewhat of a lie. Pretending to hate something you're defending doesn't instantly make your points valid or add credence to them, you know.
Obviously anyone who goes through the X Factor does some work (calling it
hard work is a real stretch though, isn't it?), but all he had to do was sing. Did he come up with the guitar riffs or bass line or lyrics or beat or anything else for "The Climb"? No, it was a cover, and even the original artist didn't write it, it was written for them. Did RATM come up with the guitar riffs, bass line, lyrics for "Killing in the name"? Yes they did, hence a real band who writes their own music beat a pretender who happens to have a half decent voice. Whos image and publicity has all been manufactured by a reality television show for the pure purpose of being a cash cow for Simon Cowell. The main point here, as I've tried to explain to you so many times, is that it is good a real band beat a mere imitation. No matter how orchestrated that victory might have been (although having a reality show pick its winner, who then releases a single, the week before the Xmas number one is announced is somewhat more of a planned operation, don't you think?)
If you like real music you can not argue that point.
