Discuss. I think he should, but near an exit for safety purposes.

I think if he wants to fly he should have to buy two seats. Simple solution. That or lose weight.

Agreed with creepy, it would be unfair to give the man 2 seats if he only bought 1 ticket. Just make him buy 2 seats and i think it would be as fair as it could get.
Although i heard Jenny Craig is pretty tasty!

Just wondering but where is the armrest for his chair  Yeah he should have to buy 2 seats, or fly business where there's a seat between you and the person next to you so he could sit on that too.

I saw the picture of that guy on fail blog. Anyway, should be able to fly if he buys two seats or loses 600 pounds.

Yeah, no special accommodations should be made. Buy the whole row. Seems fair to me.

But what about the safty aspect of it? If the man is too large to walk to the exit and too large to fit through the door then he is ricking the safty of the other passengers.

Oh, and I wouldnt what to have the window seat next to him!
Amagine if you had to go to the bathroom.

Are obese people honestly a real safety hazard? And in what aspect? XD

Sure they may get stuck in the emergency exit door during an evacuation, but maybe the emergency exit doors shouldn't be significantly smaller than the entrance/exit doors (unless they aren't, then how did they even get on..?). Think about it too, how many times are planes evacuated? Safety regulations are important, but they should be modified to accommodate these situations. "We can drive cars 100km/h now but they are not safe enough to drive that fast so we will cap cars at 70km/h, even though we could increase the safety of them"

I don't think it is necessary that people who must sit in two seats buy two tickets; however, they shouldn't be able to occupy one from someone who has payed. If they want to guarantee that they will be able to fly if it is completely filled, they would have to though.

This made me think of the city buses advertisements on the buses that are like "Standard Fare: 1 Seat per person", which I think is so they can justify not allowing people carrying instruments, strollers, etc. onto the buses or justify forcing them to pay for an extra seat for the instrument or w/e even though it will be at their feet. If it is really that, then people who choose to stand or are forced to stand shouldn'tj have to pay the fare XD

Oh, and I think that picture is fake because I'm pretty sure it's him GETTING into the seat.

The issue here is not about seating- he clearly needs two seats (although whether or not he should have to pay for both seats is up for debate)- but more about safety issues in the event of an emergency. He has the potential to prevent others from evacuating the plane in an emergency, and for that reason he should not be allowed to fly.

Agree with what many others have said - if he needs two seats (or more) to be able to fly without disrupting other passengers then he should have to pay for that many tickets. Don't see its fair that other people should have their flights disrupted and made uncomfortable because this guy obviously has an eating problem.
