Following on from my recent dev blog about our ideas for RuneScape Classic, we are delighted to offer everyone the opportunity to try Classic for themselves! For two weeks starting from today, Classic is open for new sign-ups from RuneScape members only.

If you access Classic during this two-week period (using your normal username and password), you will continue to be able to do so after the two weeks are over. If, however, you do not, you will miss out on the chance to do so, so give it a try.

There are 15 members' worlds, one of which will be left as being only accessible to those veteran Classic players who have stuck with it all the way through.

RuneScape Classic is the predecessor to the current RuneScape game. It was closed to new members over four years ago, but we want for players to be able to try out this important part of our history. We also have potential further plans for Classic (as discussed in this blog), so another reason for this re-opening is to see how many people are interested.

Note: If you would prefer not to play through the RuneScape Classic tutorial, there is a button to allow you to skip it under the 'Spanner' menu in game.

I think this is a good idea because it gives newer player the chance to see what it used to be like and how things were before they are now.

i dont know if i like rs classic or not.. so rs2 seems so much better to me. gonna try it out more though and maybe ill start to like it alittle and play on those servers every once in a while.

overall 5/5 for reopening classic to everyone to experience

you said to everyone to experience, well that is mistake because we f2pers once again have an update that we dream we could be able to have. Also we f2pers cant use rs classic.

if its something that they want to see how a group of people take it... they are going to let people who pay try it first... they might let f2p's play it but there seeing how the affect is among us first, and don't complain rs membership isn't that much

Pretty good update, nothing bad to it since you don't have to go play classic. Well done Jagex, I know some people would like to play Classic again.

I doubt it'll ever be opened up to f2p. If i remember correct the reason they locked it down in the first place was because of cheats. Much MUCH easier to cheat in classic and they probably can't be ***** to managed it.

Kinda bummed it's opened up actually, I've had access to it all this time and i liked popping on there once in a blue moon chatting to some old school players now it'll be a mixed bag.

I like how it showed how long ago I played Runescape Classic, just a bit over 3 years for me. (1153 days)

For now, I'll finish off rs2 (getting 24 99's), but eventually, I'll go back to Classic permanently. To me, that's the only REAL RuneScape. I'm very happy with this new update!
I wasn't member back in those days, so I didn't have chance to continue playing. But now, I got my santa back

It was 1580 days since last Classic login. Terrible.
