The more thing's change the more they stay the same!

This is just a thread to add onto Shane's saying. If you have a boyfriends/girlfriend that you are close to then you are happy. If they break up with you there is a change. Eventually you will get another boyfriend/girlfriend and you will be happy again for the same reason. Although there has been a change you are still happy and therefore it has stayed the same. Do you have any scenario that either agree or disagree with this statement?

Very true. That's how it should be seen. An example I like to give is that you have a friend who moves away but after the initial onset of him leaving everything returns to normal. "The more things change" part just means that this happens regardless of scope of change. "The more they stay the same" means that they are going to get back to a period of normalcy.

For those who don't wish to decipher its meaning think of it simply as: No matter what happens, in the end it will be business as usual.

Yes quote isn't saying that everything that changes in your life is going to be exactly the same eventually its just saying they will be relatively close to the same. And yes I know what it's like when you lose someone that you really care about and when you feel the same way about someone else you will always feel the same way about the first person deep down. Also this in rs concept: Jagex took away player killing in the wilderness nearly 2 years ago. In response to that many things changed. They later released pvp worlds which kept it the same again. And later they brought wilderness only pvp which brought it even closer to what it origionaly was.

It is not true as when I bake a cake it changes and does not stay the same and never could be the same again as it is an irreversible reaction.

Say you have a cup of milk. And you add a bit of chocolate to it although it has changed you am still enjoying your cup of milk just like before and things were kept the same. This does NOT mean that all things that change will come back to normal and some things are irreversible like you said such as death. Also say you lost you hand in a chainsaw accident. You get an artificial or fake hand in replacement although it is not the same as before you still have 2 hands just like before.

In a lot of runescape situations I think that this quote is true. It can also be applied to things in real life, the thing is, is that there are a lot of situations when the quote makes no sense.

For example, A family has a baby. The family will continue to have that baby and they will have to completely change their lifestyle to suit to the baby.

I still think that this is mostly true, it has a lot to do with adaption.

anyway, I beleive that this makes no sense and you people just say it because it sounds as if it has a deeper meaning but in reality is pure gibberish, if something changes, it changes. if something stays the same it stays the same.

If a husband and wife are in love they get married. They have a child. There is a change but the love is still there it is just three peoples loving each other rather than 2 people.

That doesn't make any sense, you only used love as a factor. What about all the changes such as bring the child to day care and buying extra food.

Although you might have less money and your wife will have something to look after the love factor is still there and the man every day at work is still looking forward to seeing his family everyday.
