No matter how boring i think eve online actually is it's storys like that and thisthat i find incredible.

You have to sit back and consider just what it is, a game world where you can pull off an epic robbery that'll make you thousands in the real world without getting your *** put in prison. Gotta wonder just how advanced these games will become 10-20 years from now. I'd rather like to see a MMOG shaped around our planet, including all the worlds countries.

Sit back and watch how the world would be in the hands of thousands of randoms. China would undoubtably rule the world. XD What about you? If you could make a MMOG what would it be?

That reminds of The Guiding Hand Corporation in EVE that spent a year infiltrating another corporation, then in a perfectly timed manner, they wiped out every bit of ISK and items the other corporation had and destroyed the Leader's ship and then her escape pod. I play EVE just for stories like that. It is an MMO for those that would curb-stomp kittens and stab an old lady on the street for her purse, if they could get away with it.

I don't understand, is it part of the game that you can rob banks? or did he use a glitch to steal all the money?

I presume there is a minigame, where you can rob a bank or something. He then robbed the bank and sold the stuff he got for $5k

He did RWT. He link sold it to an EVE online gold selling site, sold it himself or another way.

Your both wrong. I would not get excited over a guy playing a mini game. XD

I think some things need to be kept in mind for a start everyone is playing on the same server. It's not like other MMOG where you have a few thousand per server. Theres just one. It's also a punishing game, if you die you lose weeks if not months of work.

Anyway banks are set up to accept deposits and in return allow people to take out loans and ****. Kinda like in the real world. And of course these banks higher people for jobs and things. So this guy spent a year or so working his way up the ladder till he was high enough to steal around 200 billion credits from the bank.

This is a long term plan hes cooked up and hes got away with billions of other peoples hard earned credits. Thats going to effect thousands. And then when you consider the backlash that this is going to cause, the banks going to lose trust and people will start withdrawing out all there money in order to protect it, course now a **** load of it's been nicked the bank can't cover it all.

Now you've got a server wide crisis all caused by one player. Now people will turn to other banks in game, several more smaller ones might rise up and become bigger over it yada yada yada.

I don't fully understand the game myself but it's no mini game, it's a real bank robbery, pulled off to perfection and the guy that did it has got away with nothing more than his account banned.

http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1094517

Heres a post by one of the higher ups of the bank in question trying to calm people down and get things sorted out. Very serious business n all that.

Can't the game creators/admins just refund all of the people who lost money?

Of course they can. But why *would* they? It's a player mistake. Not a game related one. They employed the guy, they promoted him, they trusted him.

It's a hell of a lot more interesting to sit back and watch how this is handled than the devs saving the day.

What so the developers sit there while like the bank owners sort it? That's pretty odd.

I think it sounds awesome. I like the idea of the game developers not coddling the **** out of every player over everything that happens in-game. I might just go start a trial of this EVE Online...

But what did such a Teuton afterwards look like when he had been "improved" and led into a monastery? Like a caricature of a human being, like an abortion: he had become a "sinner," he was in a cage, one had imprisoned him behind nothing but sheer terrifying concepts... There he lay now, sick, miserable, filled with ill-will towards himself; full of hatred for the impulses toward life, full of suspicion of all that was still strong and happy. In short, a "Christian"... - Twighlight of the Idols

What you guys don't seem to understand is that everything in EVE is player created, owned and operated. The banks, the bounty hunters, mercenaries, miners, traders, shipbuilders, and CEO's are all PLAYERS. The devs just create content, fix bugs and watch the player created companies and economies do their own thing. All these theft's are just players spending time gaining trust from other players/companies, then they backstab them and steal all they worked for in the past few months. The thefts were the victims fault and were done within the games rules and mechanics, so the devs really don't give a flying **** about them.
