Yes, we all went begging at one stage in our runescape careers. It is common for lower level players to do it. Beggars in my mind are annoying. They go around asking for things that other players worked hard for. Some players give in. But this is becoming increasingly harder to manage, due to the fact that there are so many players out there that dont read the rules on the runescape website. there should be a special thing that high level players can do to teach these lower level players a lesson

any suggestions??

cheers, dafin0

I usually offer them advice, or directly pay them for goods and services. I might tell a noob that I will pay top dollar for any cowhides he goes out and gets, and tell him all about how to sell them to others. I try to stay away from hand-outs. Except on christmas of course.

well one thing you can do if you do not like the beggars is just to turn your public chat off

Or just ignore them.

That's usually what I do.

That's a good idea, not to mention pretty nice of you to do.

Beggars exist everywhere, in every game, hell..they even exist irl. :o I just ignore them. I've never begged people for money, not even when I was a little 17 year old playing RS.

I generally give them a tinderbox and a watermelon and tell them that if they use them together 100 times that they will gain 10k experience in firemaking.

You say that so many people don't read the rules, is begging actually against the rules? I didn't understand that.

For what we can do about them, well maybe there could be a "teleport away spell", for use once a day on a beggar although I'm not sure how jagex could stop this from being abused.
Then again, you could turn of your public chat, turn your private chat onto friends and then maybe, if all else fails use that handy ignore list.

I always do what Colin suggested. Public chat off, private on friends, and trade/assist off or on friends. Easy as pie. :D

im with mushroom queen. Begging never really was my style. There was even this one time before the trade limits where set someone was gonna give me a few million cause i was the poorest person in edgeville at that moment. But i refused cause i would feel horrible cause i didnt really work for it. I work hard for the stuff i want and everyone should do the same. Its not hard to make even a few mill from scratch.

This is what I tend to do also and pay well over the top when they come up with almost any item.

However I lose count of the number of times a begger responds with something like 'Nah, I'm too lazy' :x

When I played I'd give them a little of what I had on me, like 1k or 2 law runes or something. They'd add me and I'd ignore them :D

I can't foresee that working. A beggar wants cash immediately, and telling them to log out for a week wouldn't be very immediate.
