Do you listen to the lyrics?

Pop music is essentially what I like to call here and now music, where the lyrics have no meaning and the sounds of the instruments are the only appeal of the song.

Well actually shorty means girl. But maybe you did or didn't know that. Not enough people give the lyrics to rap and pop songs a chance and actually interpret what they mean. But often the beat is the best part that catches most people.

I know basically all of the lyrics to all of the songs I listen to. More because I just can't help but sing along to songs I like, but yeah.

Without the lyrics, this song would have just been another, 'oh that song has a nice riff, not going to listen to it again' songs.

So yes, lyrics need to be good to make a song good.

No matter how annoying or lame you think pop lyrics are, they're better than rap.

Yes, I listen to the lyrics a lot. About 85-90% of music I listen to I listen and/or interpret the lyrics. I like to relate to them I guess you could say. I'm also a songwriter so I'm always looking for that little spark of inspiration if a certain line jumps out at me.

If I really like the lyrics to a song, I'll send it to one of my friends to see what they think. Most people don't send people music for the lyrics. Maybe I'm just weird. You can usually tell if I'm showing it for the music or the lyrics. (BA guitar riff or meaningful lyrics)
