Honestly I'd suggest keeping with the girls who live in your area, long distance relationships end badly. Go look for a girl that you know from school or something and that you've talked to before that way if you go out with that girl you'll know what she likes to talk about.

No offense, but you can't really tell him who to like and who not to like. I personally have no problems with long distance relationships, but thats another topic. As for talking to this girl: You really like her right? Just tell her over IM or myspace that it made you nervous talking to her on the phone. If it's true then tell her. She is your gf after all, she'll understand. Honesty is the key in relationships. Don't stop talking on the phone, just let her know how you feel about it and she'll forgive you if you get tripped up, make it less awkward for you, basically just comfort you about it.

Back in the day I got really nervous and shaky while talking to a girl I liked that was in my class. No worries man, it happens to the best of us. It'll be smooth sailing once you get to talking to her. And here's another little tip that might help you warm up to the comfort factor of talking with her. Ask her about her day and how shes doing. That way you can get used to talking with her on the phone without having to do much talking during the beginning.

Long distance relationships will never work. You'll go through all this "why do we have to live so far away from each other" ****, and nothing good comes out of it.

You're wasting your time.

Please stay on-topic. He isn't asking anyone's opinion about whether or not his relationship will work out, he's asking for advice on talking to a girl.

Kay then. Don't talk about weather or any other small talk. "How are you?" would be fine. But, I dunno if it's just me but "what you been up to?", "had a good day?", "what's the weather like?" etc, is the most boring conversation in the world.

Talk about Runescape, it's something you both have in common yes? Heck, that's how you met. Use it as a starter, it's all you really need. Once you get a conversation going it's easy, nothing to it.

The best advice anyone can give when talking to someone else, is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ask them about themselves. People never find it hard to talk about themselves. Thus, if there is an awkward silence our you're desperately trying to think of something to say, simply ask her something she did. Like, "What's you're favorite color. Mines red, like kind of red in Dragon armor." and she would say her favorite color, and then you can ask her something else. Like, "What kind of fun things do you do outside of Runescape. I bet it can't be all that fun without me to talk to, just kidding!". Then she would laugh, and start talking. If all goes well, you just have to listen, and ask an occasional question. :D

No offense, but I bet he already knows her favorite color, or the stuff she does outside of Runescape if he's been talking to her for over 3 years. Just because he only talks to her online doesn't mean they don't know each other well.

I'd say just tell her about your day too. So even if she doesn't want to talk about herself that much, you can at least tell her about stuff you've done.

Don't worry, it's natural for it to feel awkward considering you've known her for 3 years and only talked through the computer. The more you talk to her on the phone the easier it will be.
