The author has a really good writing style.

I'm not that interested in a cheesy love story between an awkward girl and a vampire, but the writing hooks you in.

Teenage girls (and some guys) like romance. That's pretty much all there is to it, and Twilight is pretty much dripping with sappy and unrealistic romance.
