How many of you have had surgeries where they knocked you out, and how major were they?

I've had one myself, and that was to remove tonsils. My airway was very small and it was causing me to snore, get very poor sleep ANDD I used strep throat. Now I sleep better and don't snore. But I still get Strep throat a lot :(

I remember when they were putting me into the room and they put the knock out stuff into my arm, and I remember say, "Huh my arm feels funny, but toher than I feel-" Knocked me out. And then I remember waking up and my throat was sore, and therewas all these doctors around me. Iw as very confused, I was thinking "What the hell are they looking at?" Then I got to stay home for 2 weeks, eat ice cream and play the Halo 3 Beta! :D

I've had my wisdom teeth removed, nothing big. Put the anesthetic in through an IV, noticed my heart rate go up after the needle went in so they offered me some oxygen. Oxygen was nice, then I shut my eyes, next thing I knew they said they were going to give me the anesthetic through the IV, felt a slightly warm sensation I think, but after that I don't remember anything till the ride home. I don't even remember waking up, walking to the car, or talking to people on my way out.

my 6 year old cousin had a very bad sinus infection so my uncle took him to see the doctor. doc said that the cold clogged his sinuses and had to be sucked out. when my uncle took him for the operation the doc had a small pill. cracked it and said "hey sport smell this" 2 sniff he was out cold. 30 mins later he was done and he went home.

my uncle was like "can i borrow some of that. would be nice to knock him out when he doesn't want to sleep."

i had my tonsils taken out also, then they put tubes in my ears and that was another surgery.
i had one that was kinda like a surgery, but they didnt really knock me out..they put something down my throat to check my airway, because i dont have the cartilage behind my airway that norm people do..and i have asthma...and more then likely ill have to have a surgery in a year or two, to but mesh or something behind my airway...not a big deal to most but its kinda freaky to me..someone messing with my airway :?

when i was like 8 and i had the tubes put in my ears, i woke up with a black eye, one that i did not have before i went to have the surgery :o my mom raised hell with them after that
and they gave me a lollipop  ...no really...no joke thats what they gave me

I'm lucky I've never had to have my wisdom teeth removed, friends have told me it's very, very painful.

Fairly major eye surgery twice now, not very pleasant, not very pleasant recovering from it either.

First time they did it i lost all sight for a few days and the last time they did it i had an allergic reaction to some drug they used, which only complicated matters. I have such good luck with these things.

I've had appendicitus, it started off as a small uncomfortable pricking around my stomach and I felt sick. I think that went away then a few days later it got a bit worse so my mum called a doctor round and he said it was probably my appendix and said it was nothing to worry about then left(he was friggin German).
Then like a week later I couldn't even move without hurting like hell so my mum called another doctor and she said I should've been in hospital weeks ago.

I think they put the barbiturate through the drip and gave me some gas or something through a mask, I just went out in an instant then woke up in a bed.

Uhh, for my forehead.

They didn't put me under, but they did put on immediate stitches. Took about an hour, tops.

I will be getting surgery in a few weeks for my hand, though.

The most major one is where they had to sew up my head because I broke it open on vacation.

Only on my toes :D which makes me feel good because I know I'm healthy. Unless you count having 8 teeth removed at once so I could get my braces. 9which I may be getting off in 2-3 weeks :D)

Pretty major operation when I was 1 year old, had a cyst that needed to be removed. I still have a scar on my stomatch and 1 on where the actual cyst was.

Also when i was 2-8 I had operations and tests to find out about my eating disorder, its not a major one like anorexia, but its pretty life-wrecking for me.

Not painful at all. Hell, I don't even remember anything till the ride home. Only pain I had was a sore jaw the next few days. Nothing major, considering they prescribed me Vicoden. Only needed Advil, seriously was not a big deal.
