I am not sure which one does more damage. Some people and sites say that they both do the same, some say the G36c does more. Has anybody tested this or know which one does more damage?

The call of duty wiki number stats says that G36c has more, but when you read into it it says they have the same damage. The same goes with callofdutycentral.com

Not trying to seem like the grand wizard of CoD4 but I know, and can confirm the answer.

[Explanation]

M4 carbine: high fire rate low damage

G36C: Low fire rate mid damage

Now in a normal game play situation they seem to do the same damage, but the G36C has a lower fire rate but higher damage. The carbine shoots at a much higher rate and does less damage because of this. With stopping power I haven't noticed much of a difference, but the G36C does do more damage.

One more major difference is the zoom sway. The G36C has very little sway when zoomed in (much like the M16), this is because of the lower fire rate. The M4 sways quite a bit but shoots much faster.

I prefer the M4 but it's your decision. If you want to figure out which one does more damage after my explanation, just go in a private match with a friend and just shoot each gun one bullet at a time and count how many bullets it takes to kill. (make sure the range and perks are the same for the best test).

[/explanation]

Hopefully my way of explaining things made some sort of sense. Sortve repeated myself quite a bit.

Technically this should be an open and shut case. They both use the same ammunition, and are approximately the same size. They *should* have the same damage, though just from in-game experience, the G36c might seem to have a higher damage rate due to it being more accurate. Look at the cross-hair on each, and you'll see the initial M4 is further apart than the G36c. This might explain the different fire rates, at least in game. More accurate, slower vs. less accurate, faster fire rate.

If you're wanting to use a silencer on a gun, and you're tied up between the two, go for the M4.

G36C iron sights are crap. XD

Not necessarily, if you know how to use the ironsight on a gun it'll work out fine.

I used to hate the G36C iron and now I love it. for the G36C you just get the person behind the big block and spray the gun from that point.

But if thats what you think im not going to say your wrong.

Edit: if your using an acog use it on the G36c, it has the least acog sway.

Yeah I would say M4 was the better gun all round, but if you're looking to use a good assault rifle I'd be more than tempted to point you in the direction of the AK47.

I have a feeling however the reload times differ on the M4 and G36C, I'm sure the M4 reloads faster, and reloads the noobtube faster than the G36C, but I could be wrong on that instance.

Well if he wants all around best Id point him in the path of the M16. Very reliable, good mid and long range, and if you have steady aim or a fast finger you'll be fine close range. I usually whip out the deagle close range.
