Do you think the GE helped the prices of items drop so low so fast?

discuss

I think they couldnt, now its just the ease of putting your item in the ge and waiting for it to sell, thus more people selling and price dropping faster. previously you needed to stand hours in W2 saying: "Selling D skirt 900k!" and hoping for someone to buy and not get scammed.

no it merely made it more visible to the population as a whole instead of having random amounts of players walking into w2 fally and not knowing even a rough price range for an item they wanted to buy / sell and just going for whatever the lowest they could tolerate waiting there to find.

YES. It not only helped it, it *caused* it. Prices had been pretty much stable for years. Along comes the GE, and now you might wake up tomorrow and find something you bought yesterday just went down 300k.

But what did such a Teuton afterwards look like when he had been "improved" and led into a monastery? Like a caricature of a human being, like an abortion: he had become a "sinner," he was in a cage, one had imprisoned him behind nothing but sheer terrifying concepts... There he lay now, sick, miserable, filled with ill-will towards himself; full of hatred for the impulses toward life, full of suspicion of all that was still strong and happy. In short, a "Christian"... - Twighlight of the Idols

Like Xbladez said, It didn't actually cause it but it gave the casual player a top down view on prices in user friendly graphs which could cause a selling panic very quickly when players saw prices falling normally causing abnormal drops when players sell items they wouldn't normally sell to minimize their deficit which actually just pushes prices lower, it's a pretty cruel circle but it wouldn't be as big a problem if there were more skills/places to get rid of raw materials so really the removal of the unrestricted wilderness which (in my oppinion) kept food, armour and herblore items high caused these items to fall in price and that caused a ripple effect that indirectly lowered most other items.
One more thing is that in a pre grandexchange runescape you would stand there for hours waiting for someone to buy your items for a higher price since you didn't want to lower your prices because many people felt they were getting ripped off and that also kept item prices higher.
